I would try to network as much as possible. Contact all the teachers and administrators that you know and discuss what type of position you're looking for, what openings might be coming up, and ask for suggestions of what to do to improve your chances of getting a position. In our area (Lakes Region, NH) it improves your chances by substituting to get known so I am signed up in three different districts. I found that out by talking with other teachers and administrators in the area.

Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?

Well, I had a long-term position earlier this year so I was just subbing in one district. I just recently put my name back on the list at the school where I student taught. I also have another long-term coming up in April. The only problem is that I don't expect either of these schools to have an opening in my field for the next school year. I am only subbing 3 days a week right now and tutoring 5 days a week. I am afraid that I will spread myself too thin if I sign up at many more schools. Any advice?

Hello! My name is Beth. I am a 23-year-old substitute teacher while looking for a permanent position and a recent graduate from the University of Michigan.
