Hi everyone. So glad to have found this team. I love my pedometer. Never leave home without it. It is pretty much a piece of clothing for me. I am averaging around 7,000 to 8,000 steps a day now but am hoping to get to 10,000 soon.

Hi everyone,

I'm part of a Global Corporate Challenge the worlds largest Health and Wellness program. I'm part of a team of 7 and I have to track my steps daily starting May 24 till Sept. We compete with people around the world. So I thought why not incorporate this with Sparkpeople and here I am.

Looking forward to meeting you and celebrating your mileage.

Hello - brand new pedometer-lover here!
I used to try pedometer apps on my phone occasionally, but they were always too sensitive and frustrated me, so I recently splurged and bought myself a Striiv. I love it so much! It's so much fun to see how many steps I've taken, and it has little built in games and challenges to help motivate me. emoticon I can already say that getting myself my pedometer is going to be the second biggest thing I've done to help myself in my weight loss efforts... second only to counting the points of my food! I just wish I hadn't waited as long as I did to pull the trigger.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hey, and I hope everyone's having a great Friday!

Hi I am new to this team and I just started out with walk away the pounds and I also wear a pedometer all day. I have a goal to put in anywhere from 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day and thought that this would be a good challenge to join for that.

There is no happiness except in the realization that we have accomplished something.

Happy Monday All!

I have been wearing a "cheap" pedometer now for two weeks as part of a challenge at my office. I have to say that I think I've become quite attached to seeing that number at the end of the day! I'm looking forward to participating in the challenges as part of the team.

Hi! My name is Amy and I am from Illinois. I love my pedometer! I wear it everywhere!! I tried several different kinds, but ended up ordering an Omron a few years back. I lost interest in it for a long time, but a couple of months ago, I started back to SP and my pedometer. I am back on track to losing all this baby weight and am excited to reach my first goal.

Hi all, I'm from beautiful Ottawa, Canada. I've been a member of Sparks for a while but never really took it seriously I am back and have been actively changing my health for about two weeks now. Have been tracking my food/exercising most days for at least a 1/2 hour. I discovered the wonderful pedometer about 5 years ago through a book called the Step Diet. I love my pedometer, wear it every day and would feel naked without it. I typically average between 13 to 15 thousand steps a day and am aiming to walk between 15-20 thousand a day. cheers, barbyk

Hi. I'm Celia. I joined SP several months ago but had lost focus. I'm back, on a mission, and this team is going to help me get there. I bought a pedometer this morning and will start by getting a baseline over the next 3 days, then setting some walking goals for myself. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi , I have been on Spark since Jan, 2010 I have been dropping wt for the past 20 months but recently I have hit some bumps in the road so I want to get on a team that is SERIOUS about losing weight and getting healthier. I have been using my pedometer off and on for a while now but I want to discipline myself and be more consistent. I work nights (80 hr a week ) so to exercise I must give up sleeping time . it is a trade off. I have dropped 70 lbs BUT emotional eating is my down fall and lately It has had the upper hand. so I am choosing to DO something about it and that is why I am here on this new team. I want to be accountable ! emoticon

Start each day fresh, the slate is clean , make good choices today.....for better results tomorrow.

Good morning.

My name is Joanna and I love my pedometer. I wear it every single day and have done so for more than two years. I actually lost it once and felt totally naked without it - LOL!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to stepping with all of you.

Have a good Saturday.

Good Morning, I'm Terry and I love my pedometer! I love the challenge of getting as many steps as I can everyday. I'm looking forward to joining everyone in team trips. Happy walking!

I am Apple and I dont just crave Walking. I crave Water Aerobics or anything Water related, really! If there were an Underwater Pedometer I would have one. But to Toot my own Horn, Last night I walked 6556 in about an hour. I have had no motivation lately but something just clicked in me and I got up and got moving. Today I am pumped, however I have wasted an hour sitting here reading SparkPages instead of moving!

Greetings from Las Vegas. I'm Amethyst and I have been a member of Spark People for three years. I have had my ups and downs, but this is the best program I have ever used in my long history of trying to lose weight.

Thanks to a little bout of cancer(and winning) I have lost a lot of weight. Now that my appetite is back and I can actually taste things again, as well as celebrating being cancer free, I have put about 10 pounds back on. I have no regrets over the gain, however I refuse to regain any more. It is the one of the gifts being ill gave me and I am NOT going to waste it!

I have new walking shoes and a new pedometer. I'm ready for new adventures!

Hi everyone! I'm Jasminekat. I joined SparkPeople a year ago but haven't been consistent. A fellow Sparker gave me a pedometer last weekend, and I added the step tracking to my fitness page. Without trying, I've been achieving a minimum of 8,000 steps per day. This is great motivation! I work full-time at my local community college in multiple departments and am a part-time student. Our campus was built in the 1960s, has lots of stairs and few elevators. I have two cats but no kids. I just want to be healthy, have energy, and be happy.

Hi everyone,

My name is Valerie. I'm here to lose about 50 pounds and would love to be able to do so by Christmas. I'm a full time student, mom of one, and wife. I live in Ohio, and am originally from Maryland. I have Fibromyalgia and nerve damage. Also, I'm in remission from Lupus. I'm looking to lose weight due to my health problems. Within the next few years I want to be able to have another child. My only issue is that right now I'm on so many medications which could post problems to my unborn baby, and I don't want to take such a risk. So, my major hopes are to get off of my medications for the 9 months of pregnancy and be comfortable while doing so.

Hi everyone. I would like to join this team. I am recovering from a viral infection that affected my knees and feet and am just now being able to walk any distance again. I have been wearing my pedometer for the last few days and trying to get to 5000 steps per day. I was a former 1/2 marathon walker/runner and hope to get back to that level again. Keep on trucking!

Cheers

Hi, I'm a 74 year old mother of 3 sons and grandmother of 3 and step grandmother to another 11. It's hotter than Hades here in CNY today and I'm trying to get the rolls of sod the plow left behind back where they belong. Not one my favorite spring chores, but has to get done before they all grow right into the lawn and are impossible to remove. I'm a LONG way from 10,000 steps, but wear my pedometer faithfully and will try to keep increasing those steps daily.

Rainbowzlpn: I'm impressed with your cat walking. No one should push past where they are comfortable. I have a seat with wheels I use when working in the yard, as I have to sit frequently or suffer a lot of discomfort in my back/hip area. It means I can work as long as I want to with the seat to help. A challenge to yourself of just a FEW extra steps each day will get you beyond the 1000 for sure. It when we look at the HUGE picture (10,000 steps) that we get discouraged. Keep that cat happy and your steps mounting up!

Amazing number of steps just doing your job! WOW! You're aware of the possibility of dropping steps without the daily job, so you'll be especially aware of that pedometer! Good luck. I'm trying to increase my steps, but have a long way to go to get to even 10,000 a day! You're an inspiration!

Hi all! I'm Connie and I wear a pedometer from the time I get up until I hit the bed at night. I am on my feet at work and daily walk anywhere from 14,000 to 18,000 just at work. I will be on seasonal layoff in a couple of weeks and I have come here to be accountable each day during the layoff. It would be easy to become lazy during the layoff and I don't want that to happen.

Hey everyone! I'm Jennifer, 38 & a nurse. (Currently unemployed, but hoping that will change soon!) I got the basic fitness package from SP & got the pedometer that came with it. I walked for an hour today & it said 6601 steps! That would be cool if it was accurate! LOL I'd love to (when I have the $) to get an Ormon, I'm hearing a lot of good things about them, I'm thinking about the 313, I think it is. I don't really need to have one that downloads to the computer. Anyway, I love it here on SP & am getting to learn to appreciate who I'm going to become... a brand new me! emoticon

Hi All,

Just wanted to check in and ask you...how does one use this team? Do I enter the pedometer data each day, and how much should I write? BTW, I have an Omron "Go Smart" 7 day memory pedometer.

A little about me: I'm a 55 yr old granny who has been very ill for several years. Because of my multiple pain-killer medications, I ended up being "Zombie-ized". Now after getting off some meds, I am able to finally get focused enough to get back into shape.

Good luck with that pedometer Laura -- many of us here wear it all day and just count those steps from morning til night emoticon

Whatever you start with know that a good goal is to eventually get up to 10,000 and beyond emoticon

Post your steps on the Daily step thread -- I'll be there cheering you on emoticon

Hi everyone,
I am so excited to start counting my steps. I have never done this before. I am trying to lose about 50 pounds of baby weight from 4 years ago that I never did. I just kept eating like I was still pregnant. I realize I have also turned into an emotional eater.Tomorrow morning marks the start of my pedometer. Wish me luck....Laura

Hi there!
My name is Nina, and I am 27 years old. I have slowly and steadily been gaining weight for the past 8 years (college weight, post-college weight, relationship weight, marriage weight...). After my husband and I got married in June, I gained 15 more pounds on top of everything else and decided I had had enough! I joined SparkPeople a couple of months ago, and I absolutely love it. My mom gave me a great pedometer for Christmas, and I am going to try and log 10,000 steps per day. This shouldn't be to hard once school starts up again next week (I am a high school English teacher).
Glad to be here!

I just joined this team and I'm looking forward to gettting to know you! I have a basic pedometer but I'm not very good at actually WEARING it! I have recently been inspired to turn over a new leaf and get myself back in gear. I think my goal for now will be 7,000 steps. I hope to be able to increase that number soon. Thanks to you all for being here and helping to keep me motivated!

Good Morning
My name is Dimitria and I pulled my pedometer out of the drawer last week and started a challenge with my 2 daughters. I have looked at some other walking/pedometer groups and felt a little intimidated but I liked reading Reggie's post and it definitely eased my intimidation I am striving to get to 10k but never thought to just start with meeting a easier goal first 5K duh!!!! Yesterday I did 6868. Glad I found this group!!!

Hi Guys! I am so happy to have found this team! I have been arranging and rearranging my teams. I am trying to choose teams that can help challenge me as well as motivate and inspire.

I have been using my pedometer faithfully every day since my birthday this past September. My first goal was 5,000 steps. I have never logged in 5,000 steps or under yet! I changed my goal shortly afterwards to 6,000 steps a day. To my amazement! I have been logging in over 10,000 steps except for maybe two occasions.

I am really looking forward to interacting with my new team! I do want to get to know all of you. I am excited to be starting a new journey with a team that, I know I will enjoy.

Hi - I'm Marilyn. I've just gotten a pedometer through the SP store and am trying to figure out how to get it to work properly. I finally figured out I had it set for a stride of 2 inches instead of 2 feet(24 inches)! So, instead of over 14,000 steps, I'm now down to roughly 4,000 steps. But, I think even that is wrong (not enough). I guess I just have to experiment on where I wear it (guess I have to hear it click).

Anyway, should I just log in my steps in the fitness tracker or do I need to come on here and log in each day? Need some guidance. emoticon

Hi! I just found this team and I'm so glad. I recently bought a pedometer for the first time and I've become addicted to counting my steps! I've been aiming for 10,000 a day, averaging 8,000. I walk my dog farther, power walk/ jog while watching TV, etc. So far it hasn't translated to losing extra weight, but hopefully it will soon. :)

I got a new pedometer and am hoping to walk a little each day, may not be even a mile, but at least something is better than nothing while I continue to heal...ya know stomack, muscles etc. I don't / didn't ever have c-sections, but you know, it still takes a very long time to heal. So anyways, I look forward to getting walking with you all, I am ancious to just gooooo...... I have EA Sports Active too, so doing the walking on there too...

Hi Everyone,
My name is Shirley. I finially find a walking pedometer that I love. I have many old pedometer that I started to wear, but then I get shy because they make to much of noise when wearing them. I finally find the HJ-720ITC and love it after many years looking for one extra features. It is quiet and auto reset at midnight each day. Since the 15th I have been wearing it everyday and averaging 5,000 to 6,000 a day. Each trying to increase my steps.

Hi, everyone. I've been with sparkpeople on and off. Recently i was away since i had joined weight watchers online. That worked out well, in me choosing the right foods and learning that exercise can be fun, and enjoyable. Well, since i got all the info that i needed, i decided to cancel and come back to sparkpeople a new person, knowing that I too, can achieve my goals on this site!
The pedometer i got is the Omron walking style, which gives me total steps, aerobic steps w/ the mins, calorie burns, and miles. It also has a 7 day memory in where i can see my progress! I really love it, and it motivates me to WALK, WALK, WALK~ like Leslie Sansone would say!

Good luck to you all, and will be stopping by quite a bit!

My name is Deby...

I started my Journey to creating a new LIFE STYLE
Aug. 2008 and I started SparkPeople Feb. 2009
I really feel blessed to have found SparkPeople...
It truly has helped me stay focused and keep on track... Most of all I appreciate all the great inspiring and supportive People and teams.

In the beginning (Jan. 2009) I put my pedometerin the a.m. and would wear it all day long... I could barely reach 3,000-5,000 steps per day.... When I reached being able to go over 15,000 steps a day for a week.

I stopped wearing it all day long and now only wear it during my activities / exercises

I usually do jog/walks... I use it while gardening and any physical activity....

~~BLESSings~~ this SPARKling Saturday ~~0:)

Hi everyone! I have been wearing a pedometer for some time now and am very happy to join this team. I may not always reach my goal of 7000 steps a day but, using a pedometer is a great tool to motivate you into moving more than you normally would. One foot in front of the other is all it takes. GO TEAM!!!

Hi...

I'm new here and thought I would wave hello *frantically waving*. I'm in the UK so its nearly bed-time for me.

I joined this group as I am looking for people who share my love of the pedometer and use it to motivate their fitness.

I am inbetween pedometers at the moment. My Ormon has developed a serious attitude problem and I am laying it to rest. On Friday I will buying a new one on-line... prob. not an Ormon. (I'm just too hurt by this current ones attitude towards me!) I am just looking for cheap cheerful - step count and distance in miles would be a bonus.

I look forward to getting to know you all as we step along the way! And to being an active memeber of this team.

How frustrating that has to be. It might be either how you are wearing it or the model. I don't think I have ever had that problem emoticon

Hi. I just bought my pedometer the day before yesterday. I thought it would be a fun little daily challenge for myself. But I have an issue, me pedometer doesn't seem to want to count stairs. Is it the model or am I doing something wrong? After purposefully taking the stairs all day I totally feel cheated!

Hi there -- emoticon --
Yes you can post your steps in daily steps and if you want to you can join the team goal for walking certain number of steps OR miles per week. Either way I will tally what every one posts in one place or the other toward our team trip(right now it's from Tusla OK to Yuma AZ) emoticon

Just put in those steps -- and don't worry about how many -- the goal is to get them in and improve on what you do as you go along-- Remember - every step brings you closer to your healthy weight goal emoticon

Hello Everyone. I'm fairly new to this team, just joined a few days ago and haven't posted yet. Do I just start posting my steps everyday in the Daily Steps?

Hi Everyone
Welcome to the Pedometer Challenge team. We have revised things a little. Our main idea is to count those steps to not only achieve a healthy weight - or maintain a healthy weight but to go on team "trips" also. You can help with these trips by posting either your daily steps or daily miles.
Introduce yourself to the team and let's get those steps up there in numbers.

Good luck all with your goals. Don't hesitate to send me a message or a Spark mail if there is anything you need.
Cathy
