Hi and good to have you with us. I see your spark page is set to private so I wasn't able to read anymore about you. I see you have already joined in our weekly weigh ins.
Hugs

Hello! New to this group, but I am looking forward to being a member! It looks like an active team which helps so much with motivation. I will have to look up that Genotype thing. Haven't heard of it before!

I found that when Genotype was first brought out Dr D had an questionnaire that you could complete to see which would suit you best. It was definitely BTD for me but I did do all the assessments for Genotype and am a Warrior. They are not very different so I take the middle road. But I am essentially using BTD too. I used to use that forum a lot but since I found SP I don't really go there anymore.

Congratulations on your progress and your success with maintenance! That is incredible!
Yeah, I did the whole geno-type thing too, and got really discouraged about it because I'm the type that can just look at food and gain weight:-( (Same genotype as Oprah... haha!) So I didn't pursue that too much because I felt a little overwhelmed with the extra info. I feel like I can pretty much maintain well if I just stick to my blood type, stay active, and try not to eat too much. I might have to eventually look back into the genotype later on down the road.

I'm blessed because my husband is exactly the same as me but does tweak his a little due to heart issues. Have you looked into Geno type too? Have you done your SWAMI. I had the SWAMI as a gift from a fellow BTD-er...still haven't completed the genealogy part...need to do that.
Yes I know it's hard to stay off the foods that are 'avoids' for us but I know rewards are so much greater. I've been maintaining for quite a long time now...just coming up to 2 yrs I think? Before that I was a disaster...and that's bad news because I started this team in 2007 and most of the time after that was a real yo-yo!!

NELLIEC, WA state is so gorgeous! My mother is from there and I lived there until I was a teenager (in Bellevue, just outside of Seattle).

Other Janet, thank you so much for the compliments on my progress! It's certainly been a journey... that's for sure! And it's really cool to read that you do the blood type thing too! It's been wonderful for me (and my husband, though he is an O blood type so we eat very differently). It's really the only thing that works for me to keep the weight off and stay on track (mentally, physically, and spiritually). I'm very thankful for that program because it's just exactly what I needed- I've been following it for years. I indulge occasionally but love to eat foods that are good for me and make me feel good:-)
So nice to meet you all!

Marie

Another warm welcome from me the other Janet. I've been living here in Spain for 14 yrs as my husband is a missionary preacher but are about to return to live in England. I shan't miss my extreme allergy to the olive blossom nor the extreme heat of the summer either,
WooHoo to YOU...121lbs down is amazing!!! We have quite a few members who have managed to lose over the 100lb mark!! Loved looking at your photo galley.
I was really interested to see on your spark page that you follow the ER4YT and are a blood type A+non. I also stay as close as possible to that way of eating too and actually gave up all meat products last June. I never thought I would but somehow the desire for it just went away.

I'm glad you're here with us all and look forward to seeing you joining our Thursday weigh ins and our fun way of tracking our fitness minutes every month.
You are emoticon

I grew up in El Paso, TX, which has the dry heat. I did live for a while in Houston, at which time I researched the weather patterns of the U.S. and decided that if I could, I would move to W. WA state. Here I am in W. WA many years later thanks to not being able to stand Houston's weather!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcomes!!

Janet, I'm just NW of Houston and have only been here 2 years. I moved here from Dayton, Ohio. My husband's family is here and the economy is better (though not by much:-( I think I'm kind of a wimp about the Houston heat, but I hear that people who have been here their whole lives struggle with the heat.

Welcome emoticon I'm Carol from IL (Chicago burbs) I AM a retired "mimi" of 3 and work at a fitness center part-time. I will be married 35 years in April and am planning our trip to Cayman Islands. I have a daughter in SanAntonio and a sister in Dallas area. I can totally identify with you about the frustration of maintenance. It is much harder than the actual losing of the weight.

Welcome! We are all ages and at all stages of our "healthy lifestyles" with at least 2 things in common -- our love for our Lord and our desire to maintain what we have lost and the healthy new habits we have gained. Just let us know if we can help or encourage in any way.

What part of Texas are you from? I'm an almost retired grandmother of 3 - a boy almost 3 and twins, a boy and girl 14 mos. I live in So. Illinois almost at the tip where the Mississippi and Ohio join. I'm one of the Janet's on the team and they refer to me as JanetR.

Looking forward to learning more about you.

Hey, Y'all!
I've lost about 121 lbs but really struggle with maintaining that last 10-15 lbs- it seems I'm always gaining and losing it. I'm joining this group because my faith is an important part of my life and I am trying to take a more spiritual approach to maintaining my weight loss.

Thanks for letting me join!

Marie
