Txwins - Welcome to the team. You've set some great goals for yourself and I know you can achieve them!
A big welcome from your neighbor in Austin!
One of my running buddies felt too ill to do the Austin HM, one year, but she was out on the route to cheer the rest of our team on. A couple of weeks later, she was doing the Cowtown with her SIL. So, a group of us surprised her by popping up at several spots along the route to cheer them on, thanks to help with strategic planning from her DH. That was so much fun!
The only one who thinks you look funny when you run is you. If you think others see you that way, they're just feeling inadequate seeing you do something they won't get off their butts to do. So, you go, girl!
Here's wishing you a great time at the Lonestar!

Hi and welcome! Awesome job that you set a PR for yourself. it doesn't matter what anyone else does, just what you see yourself doing and progress you make. I'm so happy that you're running circles around those sitting on the couch!

Thanks everyone for your welcoming messages. Such a lovely team!
Welcome! I'm slow like you, but I'm out there doing it. There is nobody sitting on a couch who is going to beat me. And there are a LOT more people sitting on couches than there are out there running slowly.
Welcome to the team!

Hello all! I just found your SparkTeam and love it! It really sums up who I am. Last weekend I participated in the Cowtown 5k and set a new PR of 49:10. So very excited.
I am slowly mixing in more jogging and my next goal is to complete the Lonestar 5k in 45 min. That race is March 31. My next goal after that is to be able to run a mile without stopping to walk.
I have struggled with weight issues all my life and still need to lose 60 pounds. But I love this new active lifestyle that I live. I figure the weight will come off eventually. I may look funny when I run and I am slow, but I am having a blast and have never felt more alive!
