Sorry to say that the extra 20 lbs is not all muscle LOL! Most of it is around my middle where it shouldn't be. But I've stopped caring what anyone else might think if they see me out there. I do it for me and that's all that matters. And it's so awesome to have so much support here. By the way, I have been dead last twice in the past but someone has to be last. I really want to get a t-shirt made for races that says "Last is just the slowest winner" on it, a quote by J. Boyd Hunter. If we're doing something we are winners!!

LindaKay, for all I know that twenty pounds you have on me could be pure muscle!

I was a course marshall at the Seattle Marathon this November at the 23 mile marker and was totally blown away and inspired by some really big women who ran by. Awesome athletes!

GREAT to have sisters past, present and future on the slow fat runner path.

I'm so excited that I'm leaving now to train in the rain.

Hello, Cool RN - and welcome to our team!

A number of my friends have lost 100 lbs after taking up this running habit. While some still carry a bit more than they'd like, they're happier to be a lot more fit and strong than ever before.

I have 15-20# to lose, and both my metabolic specialist and coach tell me I have to increase the intensity of my interval training in order to get into my fat burning zone and stay there longer. I think that makes sense.

It really doesn't matter if you're at the back of the pack; you're out there doing more than the folks sitting on their sofas!

Welcome, fellow newbie! That is so cool that you did three 5Ks last year. I'm finishing up a training program for a 10K and then I thought I'd try a running for fat loss program with runkeeper.com. Apparently some running styles are better than others for losing fat. I wonder what it would be like to fun without my belly keeping me company. Nice, I bet!

I would love to be on this team. I am 69 and have done 3 5K's in the past year. It was fun and I usually brought upthe rear, (someone has to assume that place in the race). I weigh 180 and I really need to lose 50 lbs.

...one more slow fat runner finishing up!

What a GREAT team! At last a place for me, a person without a runner's body who loves the ease and effectiveness and inexpense (is that a word? Is now...) of this form of exercise.

I'm 57 years old and weight 152 and when I run it's like having half a bowling ball in front of my shorts!
