Today - C25K Week 4, Day 2/3!

I was able to do 5mph through all the runs, and even bumped it up to 5.2 for the last run, then 6mph for the final minute. Woo hoo!

I did my "for real" Week 4 Day 2 last night on the treadmill, it went MUCH better!

Oh no fretting. Week 4 and 5 both kicked my rump. I have a very sore ankle in a wrap thanks to my determination to finish Week 5. I don't think I went the whole 3 minutes any one run interval. It may be a repeat, just because it felt like it would defeat me and I'm scared of Week 6. My leg muscles don't get that sore, or I don't notice it since my joints give me so much issue - the lovely repercussions of living 16 years out of 23 as obese.

OH it does! I guess I thought it was more "cross training" than "running" ... I did have very tired leg muscles like I do when I run though.

Actually, elliptical does count. When I've needed to be kind to my legs, like after the very hilly 10-mile run that my daughter and I did last Sunday, the elliptical was much easier to do than the dread mill because my legs were still screaming.

So, just keep in mind that you're staying on track, even when the weather forces you to get on some machine for a while.

Thank you for the welcome! I am SO glad I'm here! Right after I found y'all, someone posted behind me after I said in C25K that week 4 was significantly harder than the others have been ... and someone went ON and ON about how EASY it was, and how they ended up doing it twice and how awesome it was. emoticon

Then I remembered it doesn't matter if that person thought it was easy. For ME, it was hard, and I did it anyways!

Today I wasn't able to be a slow fat runner, just an ellipser. A cold front came in and running in the cold makes me cough. But when I went to use the (1) treadmill in the apartment gym - it was taken already. Doh! So I did week 4 on the elliptical, turning up the stride length and resistance when I was supposed to be running. Doesn't "really" count - but at least I was moving!

YAY - we're so glad you found us!

That you can do a 10-minute mile pace, for whatever distance, is terrific! But, the more important thing is that you're out there, if even on the "dreadmill," working on your healthy lifestyle.

Here, it really doesn't matter if people are runners or walkers, everyone is welcome!

Welcome!
You are right - we ARE runners, even if we aren't winning medals, or even caring about winning medals. We have nothing to prove to anyone but ourselves.

YAY! I'm so glad I found this group!

I was starting to see, as I've gotten to week 4 (which is SUPER HARD for me ... do you not know how long 5 minutes of running is skinny people?) that more and more are talking about pace, or are whipping through C25K not taking rest days ...

Pace? The only time I know my pace is when I have to use the dreadmil ... and it is nothing to write home about I tell you. On a good day, I might be able to do my short runs at 6mph (10 minute mile). If I ever do a 10 minute ACTUAL mile, consistently, it will be a big day to celebrate for me.

I was starting to feel discouraged, and I'm so glad to have found a group where my slow pace still counts as running, my short legs aren't something to be despised, they are amazing machines that complain very little about all the weight I make them carry, and I won't get discouraged if I have to slow my pace or repeat a week of C25K. And at the end, we can all call one another runners ... even if we aren't posting chip times or medals.
