That's really amazing. I am in awe of people who are running half marathons: I am not even thinking about full marathons.

I am seriously impressed with anyone who can do it at any speed!

Just Keep Moving.

PINGUINAPLATA, I could have written what you wrote and it would be equally true for me. :-) I made some serious gains in my speed this year but ended up having to top out at a certain point because that's where my limit is...for now. If I can get the next 20 or 30 pounds off, maybe I can take my training to the next level.

One little anecdote from my group run this morning...most of my group is training for a race in October whereas mine isn't until December, so I did a different distance than most people and ran the last 4 miles of my 12 miles alone. After I hit 12, I realized I was still about a third of a mile away from where we had started so I walked back. While I was walking, these two blonde super-fit runners doing their 8:30 pace training run ran by me and yelled "Good job, keep it up! You're almost done!" I realized they probably saw me and my build and that I was walking and assumed I must be a walker! I yelled back, "No, no, I'm already done! I'm not a walker! I'm a runner!"

Thank you, ACORALSEA. I will definitely be writing up something about my first HM. It's a pretty significant event for a reformed couch potato like me.

I love POWERNOIZE's quote: "Slow" is such a subjective term! Most people can't (or won't) run a marathon, not even at six hours! So be proud of accomplishing something so awesome! :-)

Thanks for posting that. I'm slow and I know, but I get there in the end. Most of the time I'm OK with it but some days I get down on myself and wish I could be faster. I put the work in, I do the training but I'm already close to my limit for training without injury. I do get a kick out of telling people at work that I run, since my build is more suited to NOT running. Love the reactions when I told them I'd run 12 miles last Sunday.

Us slow, fat runners must stick together and support each other. One day we may all be slim, fast runners but today is the day that we're living right now so let's make the most of it.

Hi, Runningslow, and welcome!

Congrats on your marathon finish, and hope the HM goes well. To run the entire 26.2 miles is quite an awesome feat. ( I have to take walk breaks. :)

welcome to the group. I'm a slow runner too. Running my first full marathon in just under 2months. Getting excited.

Hi everyone! As you can see by my name I am a SLOW "runner." I am training for a 1/2 marathon in November and have completed a full marathon (took me six hours and i ran the whole way!). Looking forward to chatting with other tortoises! emoticon
