Hey! I'm Charly and i am a slow, fat runner. :) I have about 60 pounds to lose and just started spark people as an alternative to the $40/month fee that weight watchers online charges. So far, I'm really liking the nutrition side of the site. I also joined a few of the tri teams as I am going to attempt a sprint tri this weekend for the first time!
I started running about 6 years ago after my second child was born to help me lose weight. I lost about 50 pounds and was running 5K's and 10K's. Baby #3 brought my 50 pounds back and a killer case of plantar fasciitis hence a 4 year break from running. I started back this January and ran a 5K in May. Since then I started the tri training and have run 2 more 5K's. I say run but I usually am at a 13 min mile pace so I guess it's more like jogging. :) I have only lost about 15 pounds since I started running in January so I am hoping that sparkpeople will help me with the weight loss goals.
Some days I LOVE to run. I love getting away from job, house and even my kids (even though I LOVE them) for a little while where I get to decide where to go and I get to chose what song I want to listen to. Other days, I dread it and just want to get it over with. I think as I lose weight and it gets easier, I will enjoy running more.
I am excited about my tri this weekend. 400 yd indoor swim, 12 mile bike ride then 5K run. I am afraid I may have to walk some of the run as the transition from biking to running is tough. My goal is to jog the whole thing. After this, I'd like to find a Turkey trot to help w/ thanksgiving over-eating and then start training for the Oklahoma City Memorial 1/2 marathon in April.
I'm really excited about staying motivated and sharing ideas with this team.
