Hi,
My name is Dawn and I am happy to find this group. While I lose the 100 plus pounds, I hope to gain wisdom from you all. I have quite a bit more to lose. Back in 2008 I began the process of getting approval for gastric surgery. In November 2009, I had the vertical sleeve gastric surgery and was pretty successful at losing weight -- had lost about 50 pounds before and 60 pounds after the surgery. But, even though I kept telling people it was a tool not a fix-all, I did not properly use my tool and allowed old habits and ways to lead me back to again of about 60 pounds. Well, forgetting what is past, I am pressing on toward the goal to get my body better fit for His Kingdom and Service. I teach children's church and want to be more active with the Kindergarten-2nd graders than I can be. I also feel called to reach out to other countries in missions, and I cannot physically do that at this point.
Thank you for being here on this jouney with me.

Faith can move mountains -- even ones made of flesh.

Dawn

emoticon My name is Rebecca, I am 39yo and living in Massachusetts. 21 yrs ago, I fell asleep driving, woke 32 days later with a head injury and continue growing strong in both my walk with Christ and in living as "normal" an adult life as I can. I weighed 147lbs at the time of my accident, but at 19yo I would be smaller than I ever will return to! I worked along Spark friends about a year ago, just after a loss of 80lbs...have gained back about 50 and am once again trying to right a major wrong. I am not taking as good care as I should be, this temple given me by God. I am really trying to treat my body as I am instructed. I need to lose weight, a loss of about 145lbs, and learn to care better for my body: get off my recently given BP medication, exercise as my body allows and pay more attention to our Precious and Holy Father. I look forward to Sparkin' with you, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Yours Because His,

I have a little over 100 pounds to lose. It is really hard for me because I was really skinny until 8 years ago. So in my head I'm still that skinny girl, but my mirror tells me a different story. I gained all this weight with my two pregnancies, had blood pressure problems and was put on bed rest. Still have blood pressure problems, but now it's mostly because I weigh so much! Hoping this team and site can help motivate me to stick to my diet and exercise changes!

I'm kind of an old newbie - I joined this team once before but got overwhelmed at one point and quit most of my teams - I've been sparking since March 2013 - have lost 40 pounds so far, have about 95 pounds to go, more or less.

Kind of hit a couple of bumps in the last month, so going back to basics and rebooting some of my teams and forcing myself to get more involved. I do better when I stay connected.

Hi. I am 37 yrs old. Married for 10 years now unfortunately most of it has been a struggle with respecting each other, we are now getting stronger in letting God lead us and to get into the roles that he has placed us in. I am looking for a group that may help me in my weight struggles and at the same time not look at me like I am from outer space when I mention something like letting my husband be the head of my household.

Just had a new thought. Normally it is 2 steps forward and 1 step back, if you find yourself in reverse with 1 step forward and 2 steps back then just turn around and walk backwards.

Hello. I am Linda. I was raised in a Christian home and enjoy fellowship ping with those of similar beliefs and interests. I retired several years ago to train as my son's nocturnal homehemodialysis partner.

My husband retired at the end of June. July 22, he was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with cancer; he died a few days later. My son and I have been wrapped in love.

Weight had crept up until December 20, 2011. Since then have taken my need to have a healthier lifestyle more seriously. I have lost 35-40 pounds but still have a journey ahead. I have been approved for gastric bypass surgery and was scheduled when my husband became ill. Looking into a date later this year. Needed to be in a better place emotionally.

Looking forward to this team.

I'm a believer who needs to tear down the idols he has erected in his life. When Abraham gave Issac to God, telling him, that HE was more important than his son, it opened the door for blessings to flood in his life. My idol is food; more specifically, living to eat and not eating to live. So this idol must be torn down. And this too will pass.

Have a wonderful day all.

Never give up no matter what.

Hello Everyone,
I'm Brandice, a 28 year old Christian stay at home mother of four. I live in beautiful Idaho. I've been overweight my whole life. I have lost up to fifty pounds and the weight back repeatedly. I'm so sick of being fat. I want to be healthy, able to move, and be active. More and more I'm realizing how hard it is to serve God with the physical and emotional issues being this overweight causes. In all I need to lose 120 pounds in order to be at a healthy BMI. In order to do this I am going to need SO much help, so I really hope I can meet some friends here to support along this journey.
I heard this song this weekend and it inspired me so I thought I'd share it:

Hi. My name is Carol. I'm a 55-year-old, married Christian mother of two grown children (24 & 22), the youngest of which is graduating from Lancaster Bible College with a degree in Pastoral Studies within the month and will be continuing into the Seminary. (Gee, do you think I might be proud?) I love the Lord, and I love my life. I have a lot of health issues, however, and am on a prayerful journey to a more healthier me. Looking forward to making new friends in Christ.

Hey, My name is lucille...I am a senior adult who has battled weight for the majority of my adult life. I am very discouraged because each time I get myself *Sparked* up...something comes along and I sabotage myself. I need a lot of Christians to talk to me and advise me, what to do. I am the mother of three children, but have given two of my adult children back to the Lord. My son, died from kidney failure. My daughter was killed in a tragic wreck in 2009. I know that we can all find a reason to claim being overweight. I think(and I say think) I am ready to get down to losing about 100 pounds. I recently lost my mother and she was very small; however, being bedridden, it was very difficult for her and for the family. I can only imagine what dear husband and my only child would have to do...if I got down sick. So Call it as it seems, I have a motivation now, more than ever, to try and lose weight. If you want to email me pleaseeee do so. I am going to do this one way or another.....

Caz, thanks for stopping in and telling us about yourself. So glad you did. Visiting Australia is on my bucket list. We almost moved there when I was a child. Take the time to explore Sparks and learn all you can. This is a journey and the most important step is to daily dedicate this journey to the Lord. In Him we have victory.

Hi, I'm really excited to have found this team and also thanks to momfan for the welcome message emoticon I'm 40, from Australia and have well over 100lbs to lose so finding support, especially from other Christians, is really important to me. I'm single and just started with a new Church recently which I'm really enjoying. Right now i'm taking a few steps to make some changes; with the plan to dive in even deeper after Easter. I've learned from past attempts that if I try to do everything at once I fall flat on my face and quickly give up; so trying to do it differently this time emoticon

So true, being healthy and not thinking about food would be so freeing to serve God and also enjoy so much more of life in general. I know I need His help to do this, I can't beat this by myself.

........Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Matt 19:26 NLT emoticon

I'm hopeful with sparkpeople support that I can lose weight and get healthier.

emoticon to both of you. This is a great group for support. Stop by the chat room or pose your own thread. There's usually not a long wait for a response.

Do not ask "is this good or bad...is this right or wrong for me?"...but instead ask "for where I want to be in the future, is this the WISE choice for me?"

I was briefly on SP in past years--never really got into it, but this time I am tracking and logging in every day. Hearing good things about this group. I have 200 pounds to lose.

In 2005-2006 I lost 180 pounds using Food Addicts Anonymous. This was a couple of years after going through a devastating divorce following a difficult 8 year marriage. It was the only time I have lost weight successfully my entire life. I felt GREAT, but did start having blood sugar issues when I was within 10 pounds of my goal weight. I remarried in 2006 to a wonderful, godly man. We were surprised and delighted when our son was born---9 months and 2 weeks after the wedding!!! :) I gained 50 pounds during the pregnancy, and then was within 8 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight when I found out I was expecting another baby. I gained nearly 100 pounds with my 2nd pregnancy, and have kept going up ever since (till now). Since my daughter was born we have gone through a long period of unemployment, two moves (due to new job). We are finally settled in again. I just started with a CPAP machine and it has greatly improved my sleep quality. I'm noticing quite a change and getting some energy back. My daughter is 4 years old, so it is time to get going and get this weight off so I can enjoy my family and be active with them. My knees are going bad (requiring injections), I and I have high blood pressure, and I don't want to keep living this way. Especially with my young children and planning to homeschool them, Lord willing, in the upcoming years. I want my children to have a healthy example, rather than learning from my bad habits with food. My husband loves to take walks (he also runs). I want to get to where I can be active with my family. Traveling is also difficult because I don't always fit well in seats, etc.

I am "jump-starting" by using Body by Vi meal replacement shakes, but that is a 90 day thing, and I am determined to find a way that I can live and enjoy my food and eat moderately and glorify God with my eating. Habit changes are needed for the long haul. I would like to 200 pounds off. I felt good at that weight. My goal weight is probably what other people would consider "overweight"---ha ha!

Forgive the long intro. Maybe I'll post this as a blog entry too.

I'm an old and newer member of Sparkpeople. I had joined a few years ago, but then decided to come back this past summer and having forgotten all my info just decided to create a new account. Then we decided to move, and being without a computer in august I dropped off again and with all the stresses I didn't track or even pay attention. So all that work over the summer was shot. After we got settled in the new house, plus a few more months of stalling, I found my scale and stepped on. About cried. So, pissed off and frustrated, I decided that enough was enough and I had to come back here and get myself back on track for the last time.

So here I am....again....and motivated. Our family (5 kids, hubby & I) joined the local Y and have actually been going 3-4 times a week so far. Dragging my family into a healthier life, cooking healthier (whether they eat it or not), and realizing that without God being part of my support team none of this will work.

Keep up the support and good work everyone.

Hey, here I am! I remember when I first stumbled across this team in the early days of my sparking experience. I thought that there was no way I could add another team. Then I checked the team out and decided that there was no way that I could not add this team for the support and encouragement the people on here have been to me. There have been many changes in leadership.

I have three amazing daughters, two of who are married and have five grands with one on the way. My life is busy and chaotic, some people even say catastrophic, that is what happens when you have a large extended family.

In 2009 I lost 100 pounds, but didn't maintain and have gained all and more back. This is a lifetime journey. So much more then just becoming healthy physically, but also spiritually, mentally and emotionally.

Hi! I'm Lori. I'm 46 years old. I've been on SP for awhile, but I just joined this team. I have struggled with weight for awhile. I was widowed in 2008. I remarried in 2011. I have a 10-year old son.

This past year, I gained a lot of weight after having some health problems. After hitting my highest weight in December, I decided it was time to get back on SP and time to get serious.

My goals for 2013 are to lose at least 50 lbs, eat healthy, exercise, and deepen my relationship with God. (I have broken these goals down into specific steps.)

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

I am an "old" member... I have 2 step-children 10 & 12 years younger than me, and 2 boys one 19 (college freshman) and 11 (6th grade). My weight struggle didn't start until after my husbands many husband's many hospitalizations and strokes. I was making headway until 2 years ago when a service connected injury reflared causing me to spend 10 weeks on crutches and several months after with minimal walking (which is my main source of exercise).

I started the VA Move program which is a support group for weight lose and am starting to make some positive changes again.

Hello! I've been a SP member since 2008. It's been a roller-coaster ride as far as weightloss goes, but I'm still in the game & trying to get it right. "One day @ a time" is how I go. Just trying to be patience with myself because I know one day it will happen. Thanking all the SP teams for there special support & all the resources SP puts out there for all of us going through a weightloss journey. I've gotten alot of good information from SP & so much encouragement through its members...just thanks to all of you & God bless each and everyone of you out there...you are so appreciated!

I am an "old" member too. I have been on this team for most of my SP life. I love this team and have made some dear friendships here. I love the support and encouragement that I have received here!

I am 53 years old. I have been married for 33 years to my best friend. I have have 4 children -- 1 boy and 3 girls. The 3 oldest are married and the youngest who is 20 is still here at home. I have 6 grandchildren -- 3 girls, 1 boy, 1 in heaven and 1 girl who I am looking forward to meeting in May:)

I have struggled all my life with my weight. I hope this year to make Onederland!

I am 40 years old, and been on spark for several years with mixed results. Right now I am just looking for a healthy balance in my life. I tend to go overboard with stuff (and then quit). I decided to begin by concentrating on one Spark Team, and this is the one I chose. It's one of two I have stuck with my whole Spark "career" and I feel it's the most important to me personally because of the fact it's "Christian" which is the foundation of my life. God is the foundation of my life that is... I don't always show it, but do always know it. emoticon
