Becky, this is a very helpful team. I cannot say enough about how they encouraged and educated me before my hip replacement. I had mine in December, and it is making such a difference in my life. It was definitely worth it having the hip replacement. There are some very good tips about what to have at home when you get the replacement. It helped me, because I had them when I got out of the hospital.

Bev, your grandchild sounds so precious. What a blessing.

Glad to be back, still have lots going on, getting everything reorganized, but I will be here. Wilma glad you are helping. I'm doing fine, just a little lonely, but my great grandchildren are helping. My 4 year old grandchild comes over and says she is coming to keep me company so I don't get lonely. They live just through the back yard. My hardest part is learning to make meals for myself. I have lost about 4lbs with this bad cold I had. Antibiotics have upset my stumach and I have to deal with that now.
I will improve soon,

Welcome Becky, Welcome to the group. If you can get yourself a walker, the one with a seat on it, that's what I did so I could walk. It sure help with the weight loss, which I have now gained back. I could walk almost a mile before surgery with the walker and then I had it to use after surgery also. I am almost 6 years out now and 73 years old, so I will use it to get out and about again. I really need to get back into shape after the rough year I have had with an ill husband and now his passing. Where are you in Central WI, I am in Plymouth, but from Athens?

Welcome to the team. You will be so happy when you have the replacement. You will feel so much better and will be able to do things that you didn't realize you missed.
I just lost my job and that is what I am afraid of is gaining weight back because of stress eating.

Hi Everyone.
I just joined this morning & thought I should introduce myself.
I am going to be 52 in December & I live in Central Wisconsin. I love to go fishing & geocaching but I havent been able to do alot of those since I found out I need a total hip replacement on the right side. I used to drive bus for special needs school children until I was let go because of my mobility issue. I use a cane to walk with & they need the driver to be able to get up fast & to get to the children incase of an emergency. That was May 2011 & in June 2011 I was told about the needed replacement. The doctor told me no walking or anything that puts a strain on the joint. But he also told me to lose 40# more pounds to make it easier on both & I. Well after I was let go from work I ended up putting on 38# of the 68# I lost doing weight watchers. I am recommitting myself to lossing the needed weight so hopefully by January 2013 I can have the surgery. I want to be able to do the outdoor things I love to do; go walking with my boyfriend who has MS & uses a hoveround. He wants me to get a scooter also so we can get outdoors together. But I refuse to get 1 because I need the excerise. Looking forward to getting to know you all!!!!
