Colin Firth never looked quite right to me.

I do agree with you about David R. playing Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth and even Matthew MacFayden have spoiled me on that score)...I do a lot of hand sewing so I pop that adaptation in while I'm working...very relaxing!

I thought the casting was particularly good. Not just (mmm) David Rintoul as Darcy, but Mr Collins, Mr and Mrs Bennett and Bingley too. And I loved the cartoons they did for the title sequences.

Oh, I love that version! I think it's underrated but that is actually the very first adaptation I saw & it got me hooked!

My favourite visual adaptations are the BBC ones from the 1980s - specially Pride and Prejudice.with screenplay by Fay Weldon

I discovered Jane Austen during grad school-I found it very relaxing to watch the movie adaptations, then I went back and read the novels. I love them all! In fact, I've seen and read so much of Miss Jane's work, they seem like old friends (not trying to be weird or anything! LOL)
