Hugs to all of you. I'm still working though where after the first of the year is a toss up. DH is on disability, 1st check is supposed to be in the bank wednesday. but we are in the same boat, everytime I think there may be a little left something comes up. My parents are giving more money right now, and our tenant is mosing our yard and fixing the house up on their own. and so far have not stopped paying rent which is what most folks have done after about 6 months. I hope we all start seeing the light at the end of the tunnell, and pray it's not a train coming.
While I am not unemployed my husband who is now 60 has been for almost 3 years Luckily I was able to take an early retirement from teaching so we have some money coming in and little bits from my husband's plumbing and maintenance tho very little and some tutoring and babysitting on the side. What's worst is my sister too has been laid off but she is so much ahead of us financially so am totally jealous. I know all this has effected my weight. I look forward to getting to know you all

I've also had a hard time after being laid off of a full time job - OK, so I'm employed, but only part time, which doesn't pay the bills or provide any insurance, so I don't feel like I'm worth anything. But - have to try to keep spirits up. Good luck to you!

Hi and Welcome!! I think at any age it is depressing to have a sibling or even a parent help you out. I hate asking for help. I currently have a job, but that could end at the end of this year for all I know. We are supposed to have word by the end of the month if the business I deal with is going to continue after the end of the year or not. I hope it does for my sake and peace of mind!!
i must join this team, a group of people struggling with the same issues and concerns i have. we're all in the same boat and it's getting very crowded. after 44 years of steady employment, 20+ years with the same company i was laid off halloween 2009. since then i have been trying to survive on unemployemnt, considerably less than i was making when i lost my job. things i am experiencing for the first time include food banks, paymnet plans with my credit cards, no extra money for anything and i mean anything. to be 61 years old and have your sister pay to have your car fixed is depressing to say the least. i am still too young for social security and my 401k is minimal. i am hoping my unemployment lasts until march at least since i can start collecting social security then. that will be less than my unemployemnt even. at the present time the only insurance i have is for my car. no medical, no homeowners. i pray the rosary everyday and one decade is dedicated to those in financial straights. i will be including you all in my prayers everyday
