Hi! My name is Mary. I live in California, raised 4 boys here. I've been on spark for a while (lots of pics and blogs). Money IS an issue, of course. I've been in the process of applying for that miraculously promised Home loan modification program too. Yep - feels like a run around still after a year and my SECOND forebearance program which promises to deliver a newly configured loan when I get to the other side...again. I've reduced bills, cut back on groceries, heat, entertainment. I think my biggest problem is I pay my bills month to moonth with whatever money I have. I'm not very good at looking at the big picture, and getting to the point where I can write it all down and make goals that seem realistic. I blame it on just not having enough money to really DO that. Fact is. I'm just terrible disorganized! But - I want to work on it! So, I'm here!
Looking forward to meeting some of you! Hopefully inspiring each other!
Hi, I am new to the team and am looking forward to hints, advice and support. I always seem to be struggling to save a little so that I can get ahead. It is almost like a cycle that is out of control. I welcome any suggestions and hints that have worked for others.

I tried the home modification a year ago when it first came out. After a couple of months of the run-around, I was told I didn't qualify because I should be able to pay my mortgage with my pay...Really!! They go by gross not take home pay and don't consider any expenses. To me it was a complete joke and I am hearing a lot of complaints lately about it. It may work for some...those that aren't working, but I also heard because that are near forclosure it still doesn't work... The banks aren't helping people out like they should be...
Sorry don't mean to be down on the idea, but it is those of us that just barely make a living and live on it by a thread, that don't get help...just my opinion.
Hi & Welcome! So sorry to hear about your loss of income. Have you checked out any of those refinancing programs I keep reading about that is supposed to help people keep their homes. I'd contact the mortgage company and see if they can help! Worth a shot! Good Luck & keep us posted.
