I have a little dream about being a writer. I am a former teacher and now an artist working from home and an arts education volunteer. I really love blogging about my health journeys here on Spark and getting feedback. I joined a local writer's workshop group, but I don't want to share something too personal with them such as my health journeys or my memoirs. So I think I will try my hand at fictional writing with the new writing group. This would be a good place to check-in on how my new writing project is going. I need ways to stay accountable, so that I actually work toward my art and writing goals while trying to lose weight.

Rebounding SP member. I've been a freelance writer professionally for the last year and for a decade I have written background story and content for an assortment of text-based games. I dabble in poetry but adore prose. I am gearing up to participate in Nanowrimo for the first time this year.
I am hoping to get involved in a few like-minded groups on SP to help keep me here and keep me accountable.

Good morning all,
I've been a rebound Sparkpeople member for several years. I retired last year from 35 years of employment with a local government. I enjoyed my first 10 mos off but realized I was too young to be "retired" so now I am semi-retired. I work part-time for a lawyer, but even that job may be slipping away as he runs a solo practice and the economy is still not so hot. I hope to refocus my writing efforts now that I have time again in the morning before going to work. I was up early this morning to take my furbaby out for a morning walk to the little marina and pier in my town. The sun was breaking through the clouds just above the horizon and the water was so still. It was beautiful. Take a moment to take in the beauty of nature where you are located.

Hi! I'm Patty and I've been on SP since May 2010. I am always writing SOMETHING. I am at a point where I want to get serious again about it. I've had some articles published, but that was about 6 or 7 years ago.
God grant me the serenity to change the things I can, to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hello -- I'm Susan, and I'm new to this group. I keep a WordPress (mostly) travel blog (mzsusanb.wordpress.com/), and I'm a photographer. I also have issues with food and weight but I'm trying very hard to focus on the moment instead of letting myself be overwhelmed by "the big picture."

I've been a returning Spark member for awhile. I get focused, do well for a couple of months and then life, stress, STUFF, gets in the way. Good luck everyone.

Hi there, my name is Cindy and I have recently started getting some of my writings posted online. I have so many different sites though that I figured it might be easier for my online friends to just see it on my facebook rather than me getting over excited and over posting it on all my different groups and getting on people's nerves ;)
So my facebook is www.facebook.com/rose.leisure.5
I look forward to seeing some of you there. I'd love to read other people's work as well as get some feedback on mine as well. See ya soon!

Returning Sparker. New to the group. Joined a lot of teams initially. Working my way to finding a few new writer friends via this group. Happy to be here. Will be perusing the team pages and seeing what's up first. Looking forward to getting to know a few of you a little better over time.
Hi! I am excited to find this group. I love writing and have about five outlines for love inspired novels and I am working on my first one. I feel I am stuck. Not that I don't know what I want to write, I just keep revising the first three chapters. I think my OCD keeps kicking in and I see sonething and have to fix it right then. This frustrated me so much that I haven't sat down to write since probably October? November? I am hoping that as I work on being healthy, I will also be working on my mental heath too! Maybe then I can get back to writing.

Hi my name is Aubrey and I was thinking about how I keep clambering onto the wagon and then falling off and then stumping around in puddles until the next one comes along. I'm tired of it!
So I put on my best Zorro mask, hid behind some bushes, and I have ambushed this wagon. It's mine now, see? Gimmie the reigns and let me lead my own life and write my own story!
If I drive into potholes and shake things loose, that's my own fault but I'll keep driving. I'll show up at the end, caked in mud and windswept, but I'll have a story and a smile. I'm glad to meet you, fellow writers :)

Hey all! I'm new to the group as of yesterday, but I've been with SparkPeople for at least a couple of years now - possibly three years. I've been writing fanfiction off and on since I was about 14 or so and I'm 27 now.

Hi all. I've been writing since I was a kid. Lots of different stuff. Poetry, short stories, editorials, phony newscasts that I used to present to my grandparents etc... I did NaNoWriMo for the first time last year and failed miserably of course. This year I am trying to be better organized but still challenged to find the time. Isn't that always the way? So maybe this team will help with that a bit by keeping me accountable.
Aside from writing, I've been on Spark for almost 2 years. I am married, a mom, and work full time. You can check out my Spark page for more. :-)

Hi, I'm Hanuko. I've been writing for fun since I was 12. I usually just write short stories (although I've been toying with the idea of writing a multi-chapter story) and I write both original stuff and fanfiction. (Yep. I'm one of those nerds.)
I have a lot of goals this year, and one of them is to write something (whether it be a journal entry or working on a story) at least once a day. I'm hoping that joining a group of dedicated writers will help inspire me.
Thanks for welcoming me into the group! I'll be hovering around. :)

I have poems, short stories, 1 act plays, etc. I'm in the last 15k words of my first novel under a nom de plume, because I've been published under my own name for work related, professional writing. Hello. I've also only had one thing published, Ruanda. But, that's partly because I didn't submit anything until last year. I've been writing off and on for most of my life and still have a short story from 1986 that I recently started editing and re-writing.
I'm glad to see that one of your goals is "Write in primary work 10 minutes per day." I've joined two other Writing Related Teams on here and this is the first one with a goal that include actually writing!
For more about me, check out my profile and/or posts I've made to other teams.

Hi, there! My name's Ruanda and I have been writing recreationally for years. I have had a poem published, but that is the sum total of my professional accomplishments. I love to write - to let words flow freely from my fingers or pen, just allowing a stream of consciousness to take place, or to shape a distant memory into a short story. I am 53 and have all sorts of medical conditions that have precluded my seeking gainful employment, so, perhaps, if I hone my skills on this Team, I can make some moolah with my talent! Oh, and I've been on Sparkpeople for a few months but am battling to lose weight. (Just for the record).

I have read through most of the participants' post and I am intriqued. I long to be published in a more creative fashion. I do write at work but it does not fit my need for creative writing. There is a push/pull for creative writing going on inside me that never really quiets down. I have written some poetry, started (not completed) a few novels, and some short, short stories. I do seem to do better when I take an online class to provide prompts and keep me on schedule. I get good feedback from the classes but still have basic insecurities about my skill level. So looking forward to follwoing the dialogues and comments on this site. keep them coming.

Way to go Cynthuis. If you can use one hand better than the other check to see if you have an Assistive Services and Technology or try Vocational Rehabilitation to find out about keyboards that can be used with one hand. Or a speech writing program.
Now, that you have started to find your way back to manual writing, I hope the ability to do more and longer comes along faster and faster.

Greetings from Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. I'm new to SP and just found this team. Yeah!
I write how-to articles and books about my artistic projects - fashion doll makeovers, making marionettes and dolls, and theatrical costume design for community theatre. I haven't had anything published in over ten years, but I have a few book outlines and some rough drafts saved on my computer.

Hello. I am Carley. I'm from Barrie, Ontario, Canada. I've been on SP since 2008. I love it! I am a new writer. I've been writing blogs for a few years. Currently I have a blog site where I write Christian devotional messages, and I'd love to know what you think about it. I have also started writing my first book. I've taken a challenge on a site called National Novel Writing Month. I am writing my own story. I have a lot of people telling me my story would be inspiration to others. I've accepted the challenge, and I am loving this work.

Hi, My name is Emily even though my Sparkpeople screen name is Ariana. I have a degree in technical journalism, but I haven't written in years due to an injury. I am planning on writing a cookbook, and I may eventually write a novel. I'd like to explore my more creative side. I enjoy technical and medical writing, but I feel I would be a better writer if I could tap into my creative side. The precision required of technical/medical writers tends to dampen your creative abilities. I am so happy to have found this group on Sparkpeople. Feel free to "Friend" me and send me a message if you'd like a writing and weight loss buddy.

my name is Danielle. I'm from North Bay, Ontario. It is so wonderful to find other people who love to write. Among my friends, I'm the only one who has a passion for putting pencil to paper in that fashion. I've been writing since my early teenage, but it is more for a therapeutic use, a sort of pressure valve to allow me to deal with the stress of my daily life. I'm a single mother of two boys (19&14), but the oldest has autism and developmental delays, so, my life is pretty hectic. My background is military, was married to a member for 18 years, so, I write a lot about the military, the various places we've lived, and how being in the Forces affect not only the member, but the whole familiy as a unit.

Hi everyone..I am from northern Illinois and am so glad I found this group.
I was born to write.Writing is what I do to relax and get lost in time. When I am in a groove I can look up and hours have passed. When time feels suspended but sped up too..how can that be? If you're a writer, you know the answer to that..

Hi there. I'm Kara from Idaho. I'm a freelance writer for a lifestyles magazine in Boise called Fusion, and a website called Idahofoodandwine.com. I have tried my hand at being a "professional" writer, taking on ghost writing jobs and ad copy jobs, but found it to be fruitless and taking up my whole day (16 hours of writing a day about dog collars and muscle max=ugh). It took the fun out of writing for me. I decided to continue to write for the magazine and the website, but to find the time again for myself and my family, this includes getting back to SparkPeople and writing for myself again. I have a personal blog www.theadventuresofshaw.blogspot.com that I haven't written on in months, and what I really want to write is a creative non-fiction book about my life and my family. I love using my family as fodder. If anyone is looking for someone to help with motivation or just wants a buddy, send me a note. I look forward to meeting everyone! Kara

Since graduating from UOP I finally have time to do something I've always wanted...to become a skilled writer. My problem is I have all kinds of story lines floating in my head but lack the discipline to write them down. On the team goal I signed up for the 10 minutes of writing daily challenge. I'm hoping this will help me develop a habit of daily writing without effort.

Hello! My name is Donna and I just recently got back into SparkPeople. A couple weeks ago, I joined this group and have found it hard to find the time to even write here, must less on one of my stories!
I work as a teacher (am currently on Spring Break). I have never gotten anything published (unless you count winning a contest in Games Magazine--four lines! I got a T-Shirt!), but I have short stories, and LOTS of novel starts (it's my favorite part of the creative process!), two screenplays and a few poems. I joined a writer's group and we meet every other week and my goal there is just to finish one of the novels, but I'm hoping that if I check in with this group regularly, I can be motivated to do weight-loss AND writing. GREENRUG, has this turned out to be the group for you?
I saw the team goal was to drink 8 glasses of water a day, so I got up from the computer and drank a full glass just now! Also, 8 hours of sleep--that will be a lot tougher...do you guys have any writing goals, too?
Looking forward to getting--and giving--support!

Just joined. I've been on spark for two months. I would just like to get a feel for this group. My objective is to have fun and brainstorm write. I'm looking for a relaxed group that is low key and is complementary. I'm here to have fun and loose weight. Another team has already tried to correct my grammar and spelling so I'm not looking for that serious a group. If this group critiques work, that's ok but that's not what I'm looking for. I'm just trying to find the right group for me. Thanks. Hope this group is it.

Hello, everyone! I teach English to adults in Japan.
I also write compulsively... and edit even more so. (Gah.) I'm learning to both love and hate the process of self-publishing. It's kind of mesmerizing as I can spend hours upon hours researching possible markets for my work... and not do a minute of exercise all day. Hence, SparkPeople!
So, here's to prying myself off the sofa and away from my laptop for a bit every day to the purpose of staying healthy! (^__~)
Hello! I'm an MFA student in creative writing at Emerson College in Boston. I got my BFA in creative writing back in 2001, but quickly after work and a crappy relationship got in the way of my craft. I work with people whom are elderly, sick, and will most probably die in the near future.. I write stuff on paper- to get it off my chest.. I am not weak, but some stories I watch happen are so profound and a mixed bag of emotions rush through me.. Some work days just blow me away- life, death and in between are given new meaning.. I walk from home to home- seeing what the average Joe feels is messy.. To me this is life- with no mask on raw and real..

Can I call myself a writer if I have not published anything? I have many short stories, several novel starts, lots of poetry, and tons of free writing works. I have also written several bible studies for classes that I teach. And I know I have a good work in me... but I am insecure about the process. I have joined this site in hopes of getting the encouragement and help I need to go all the way!

Hi all! I'm A, I'm mom to a 2 month old boy that I call Guppy or Critter. I'm a "single mom" in that the daddy isn't around but I have a HUGE support network. I gained over fifty pounds while pregnant and was already overweight. I need to lose around 70 pounds to get back to a size 8, which I haven't been in about ten years but I know I can do it--for me and for him. I want to be able to keep up with him when he gets movin'! I've got a long history of an on-again, off-again relationship with Spark, but I REALLY want to be a hot momma by my birthday in May. I write for Demand Studios as well as doing other freelance work and writing poetry and prose for myself.

Hi everyone! I write because I love it, and now I exercise because I love it, so this seems like a great place to hit both addictions! I mostly write fantasy/horror and self-published my first novel this year - working on a sequel now, for fun - and I'm pleased to meet all of you!

Writing is my therapy! I went back to journaling last year when I was going though a challenging time in my life. I still do it daily, though I'm more flexible about length.
I wrote poetry and short stories in high school and for the occasional college assignment. I especially love to create travel adventures at a place I've never been to. I'm also a good technical writer.
I have no defined path for where I want to go with writing because I'm trusting my intuition. I'm very glad to be here because this will fertilize my love of writing for its own sake.

Hi, I'm Cynthius. I've been writing for over 40 years now. I write poetry, essays, short stories, and I journal. A recent injury stopped my ability to hold a pencil or keyboard. It's been many months of bracing and therapy. I can now hold a pencil for about 10 minutes (with breaks) and keyboard a short while. They said I may never write again. I grieved that piece of my expression and processing of life. I'm fighting to reclaim it. 10 minutes is more than I could do a week ago. Writing is a powerful tool for me.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

I started out writing short stories and novels, but that didn't really work out. Then, thanks to a college professor, got into screenwriting and it has been my passion ever since. I have currently written over 20 scripts. I've placed in a few contests and have gone through an agent and a manager and still here I am unproduced.
Anyway, I'm so glad I found this group. If there are any other screenwriters out there, or just anyone that needs a writing/weight loss buddy, drop me a message.

Hi- my name is Echo. Have been wanting to join this team for awhile but had too many things going. Finally, decided I need to get into my writing - again - some more.
Have been writing since I was 10 years old. Even have one "go to heck" from a publisher, but can't even remember what I sent. Had a poem about Idaho published in the weekly paper in Grangeville, Idaho when I was 12. Won a couple of School essay contests and a special mention award at HS graduation for a poem.
Once I went out into the working world at 18, I spent the rest of a lot of years being secretary, composing letters for the boss, editing and re-writing engineering specs and documents for many categories. Edited and re-wrote papers for husband as he was getting his degree from Univ of Arizona. Was a medical transcriber, legal secretary and a "bunch" of other things through my 6 or 7 different lifetimes.
Have plans/notes for one book, short stories, articles memories of adventures and mis-adventures of camping, traveling in the company of cats and dogs and other miscellaneous items. Also have to brush up on punctuation, sentence structure, grammar and spelling. Always got straight A's and used it all for years. Am pretty rusty now.
Have been by myself for 4 years and had several things to accomplish first, but realized there's no sense in waiting. So here I am - keyboard ready.

Hello, I'm Patty. I restarted spark, because I went ages w/o doing anything so I figured might as well restart. I have my own little handmade jewelry business (which is where I got my user name) but I also the past few years have had a writing bug. started out w/ a dream and grew from there. anytime I get a new idea I start typing. Dunno if they're any good but I like reading the ones I've finished and I'd like to get the nerve to show my friends.
Hello everyone! My name is Stella and I am so glad to find a writer's group here in Sparkpeople!
I live in the Philippines, where I work as a part-time university lecturer. (I've been told that all teachers are English teachers at this point... which means I have to do a lot of grammar corrections at this job, too. It's for their own good.)
Writing-wise, I have a lot on my plate: Apart from a Sparkpeople blog, I also have a fashion/beauty blog on Blogspot that I shamelessly promote on my page. I also do a bit of freelance writing (ie. submit stuff for the church newsletter) and participating in small-scale writing contests. I've also attempted two novels which I've back-burnered for the time being.
The main project that I have right now, however, is a screenplay, which started as a treatment and ended up ballooning into a full-scale project. I'll talk about that project more later, but for now I'm just glad to be here.
