Good luck on your weight loss journey. I started back to SPARK after a year long hiatus, in January this year. I turned 60 in January as well. Since then I am down 17 pounds. Not fast but it is off and it is staying off. I like choosing my own meal plan because, just like you said, it is foods I like to eat. Of course, moderation is the key in any food plan.
My doctor said I was verging on being pre-diabetic. Since re-joining my numbers have improved dramatically. In fact, at my doctor's visit in March, she said I was no longer in danger of being diabetic. That is in just 3 months with 17 pounds gone. I know this can work for you too.
The folks on the SPARK are super supportive. Someone will always post if you have a question or are looking for suggestions or advice.

I too had sweets as my go to food, when anything happened that would stress me out, or even if it was an unkind word, or sometimes just a look, would throw me over the edge. But you know what? Since God taught me how to eat and what to eat, I haven't had that problem. I guess when my body started getting the right vitamins, from eating the correct foods, it just took that craving away. Now, every once in a blue moon, I will treat myself to A piece of candy, but no more, and that's fine with me.

Hi, I will be turning 60 this year and this is the first time I look at myself and think I am looking old on my face, with my belly fat...disgusting! I have the potential to become diabetic, gestational diabetic with both pregnancies, so I am looking to bring my weight down a bit and hopefully I can. I am bad at follow through, especially when I feel down about anything. My go to feeling down remedy is sweets. I am hoping that I will be able to keep on my meal plans better as I am selecting foods I like and will really eat. I have been looking for such a plan for more years than I can remember. First meal, first day....good so far!
