Hi Cathi and welcome! You definitely hit the nail on the head about how much time we spend taking care of others. I tried not to be the person but still was. Then I had a stroke 5 months ago. I just turned 59 a month ago. Currently I'm living with my son and his family in another state from where I was. DIL always had her mother taking take of her kids and has continues so I am not taking care of them, When I first came here I was in no shape. It's both a good and a bad thing to me, It's not good because someone else is doing so much because they both work but for me it's good that for a change I'm not taking care of anybody but me. They work a lot of long hours so I'm left alone a lot. I'm good with that. But I'm so used to taking care of people all my life it's hard not to. Yet maybe this is the break I need to find out what I need to do and to make sure I do for myself what is needed. I wish I could have drawn the line before and made sure I take care of me instead of this happening to me. Maybe the stroke would have happened anyway or may be not. But it's still the age old questions!
So take care of yourself and make sure you have what you need to get your health issues under control. I don't know what the future holds right now, but hopefully I can carry some of the things I've learned (finally after all these years LOL) forward. I believe you can too!

You proposed a great question! And my answer is.... We we're brought up that way. We saw our moms and grandmas doing the same thing we did! However, just like they say on the airlines, when the oxygen masks come down, you MUST take care of yourself first, otherwise you WON'T be able to take care of your family, that's what we're all discovering in our most important lives! It's a good thing, and we need to not only take care of us, but also take care of God's Temple!
This is a great place to be and there are so many ladies and gentlemen that are ready and willing to help you reach your goal and beyond! Yes, "BEYOND," as this is something you'll be doing for the rest of your life, in order to say healthy and fit! I'll be with you each and every step of the way, cheering you on, and help you out, when you hit an obstacle! You know that it's only a mountain, and we have the power and authority to move that mountain! That's what God says in his Word! So let's move those mountains, Cathi and get His temple in Divine Order and you in better shape! If there is anything I can do for you, just HOLLER, and I'll do the best I can to give you a hand up!

I am excited about this new venture. It has been a long time coming. Why is it that we spend so much of our lives (especially women) taking care of others.....our spouses, children, friends, and so little time caring for ourselves. I am 60 and finally realizing that I am just as important as all those that I love. I want to be healthy and be able to continue loving and caring (especially my grandbabies) for many more years to come. I realize that unless I take care of myself first, I will not be able to share in so many things in others lives. Thank you in advance for all of your encouragement, support, and wisdom. Cathi
