I do almost all our meals at home. I just have to admit to not measuring things as I put them on the plate. I think what I'll have to do is measure it when I put it in the bowl to go on the table. That way, when we split it, I know we aren't overeating!

Welcome, yes portion control is key. I tend to eat healthy but too much and now I am measuring everything as I agreed to with the village weight loss program.

Sandy best thing to do with your great motivation is MEASURE YOUR FOOD and TRACK IT.
It is so much faster to input your meals and instantly see what you are eating. If you are doing whole foods and home cooking it is even easier. Well done. I love my Nutrition tracker and it keeps me on track.

Hi, I'm Sandy and as my user name says, I live in Largo. DH and I moved to FL from VA just about 10 years ago for his health. Thanks to the wonderful folks at the Bay Pines VA, he's doing so much better. They even were able to qualify him for a VA disability pension Only problem with that is because of the rules on the pension, I had to stop working. About 8 years ago, we both lost a considerable amount of weight by going on the South Beach diet and doing a lot of bike riding. Along the way we were given the cutest small dog named Odie who needs to be walked regularly. We also started watching America's Test Kitchen and using their recipes. The food is wonderful but their portions are HUGE! We've put some of the weight back on, ;( So we decided to go back on the South Beach diet again. There is a local produce stand just up the Pinellas Trail from us where I can get fresh fruits and veggies from. We'll be starting the diet on Mar 1.
