Go ahead and start tracking EVERYTHING! Even the little morsels that your kids and grand kids give you, out of love. Don't forget to track your exercise, too. Check out the exercise videos, as they have some you do in a chair, and you just work your way up. When I did my first exercise video, it was in a chair, and I didn't even make it half way through. I was a mess, and that just proved to me how badly I needed SparkPeople. Next, get your education, with all the articles, quizzes, etc. SP is a treasure trove in GREAT information that will help you get through, to the end. Let me introduce myself. I am 52 years old and live in the Greater Houston area. I have been married for 20 years to a wonderful man and we have one teenage daughter. I also have 3 fur babies--2 cats and a Chinese Crested dog. My hobbies are sewing, scrapbooking, reading, and walking my dog. In 2012, I graduated from 7 years of school obtaining my BSW and MSW in social work. Over those years, I put on quite a bit of weight--mostly late night eating and stress/comfort eating. This year, I had a routine surgery and got a scary complication--a arterial blood clot. I decided that I was going to get healthy this year in order to be around for my daughter and grandkids someday. At the same time, my husband's employer started a prevention program at work that if successful could mean 20% reduction in our insurance premiums for 2015. So, I searched for a free weight loss coach/program and found SparkPeople. I currently weight 205 and I am 5'3" tall. My long term weight goal is 135 lbs and I'd like to loose it in one year or so. I like SparkPeople so far and I think it could benefit me in reaching my goals. I look forward to learning from everyone here and encourage everyone as well. Thank you.
