You've come to the right place. I can tell you, from experience, that this lifestyle change WORKS!!!! Yes, it's something that you'll be doing the rest of your life, but it's a small price to pay, to get healthy and stay there! Besides, once your body gets use to what you're doing, which is rearranging it, you'll feel so empowered, satisfied, euphoric, etc. It's a win, win situation!
I suggest you start tracking first. That's what you eat and all your exercising. Don't forget to track those little taste tests you do, when you're sampling your cooking, to make sure you want to serve it to the family, as well as the little love bites that your kids give you. Watch your beverages, as there's a lot of hidden sugars and caffeine, which isn't good at all. The beverage that is the most healthy is, you already know this, WATER!!!! When I started drinking water, I wondered how in the world could I get so much in me, but I did, and now I can't get enough of it. Remember, if you get to the point that you're thirsty, your body is already dehydrated!
There are so many tools here to help you, but I believe the GREATEST TOOL HERE IS...... all the wonderful ladies and gentlemen, who help you out. They're your personal cheerleaders!!! We'll all be with you, as we help you reach your GOAL and BEYOND!!! Yes, beyond!!! We're all in!!!

This is my list that I think helps. 1. Less salt and watch it in processed foods. I really miss salt, sweet I do not cared about. 2. Track your food and read the articles they are easy to read. 3 exercise it does not have to be overly strenuous but it has to be consistent. Do some daily. It actually helps to do short bursts of exercise . After you stop you are still burning calories. 4 Sleep is very important. 5. I try to do some stretching and deep breathing often. When I do that it gives me a lift off energy. Hope it helps Pat in Maine.
