Hi Amy -- welcome to Spark People and to the High Blood Pressure team! You certainly are not alone (as I'm sure you know) when it comes to seeing the number on the scale go up and down... even when we know very well what we need to do to lose, it still is not easy! The community support on the Spark site is truly amazing, and can certainly help keep you engaged and accountable. There are also plenty of "challenges" to join, which can be motivating in terms of giving you some structure in your weight-loss efforts. Best wishes to you for achieving your goals!

the easy thing to remember is calories in must be offset by calories burnt off.

my sister walks 15000 steps a day and has lost 105 pounds at age 64. she has kept the weight off for over a year now.

Welcome, our town only has a nurse practitioner and she has changed several times. Some are tubby and some are not but they are all great.

emoticon glad you are joining us on this journey to a healthy lifestyle. don't think DIET, think changing the way you live, eat and move. You get breaks, find some of the upper body chair exercise(join that group) take a walk at lunch, bring your own food, remember snacks and drink the water. It works, but you do have to work for it. We are with you all the way.

Lord, bless my diet buddies and help me met my 2014 weight goals of 60 pounds.

I have to lose weight and keep it off! I am a nurse, working 12 hour nights, and beginning my 3rd year of classes to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. I cannot be an obese NP! I have lost weight many times but am unable to maintain. I am also sedentary except for my hours worked. I sit at the computer for 12-15 hours a day. Every time i lose weight, it is a lonely battle. I am hoping having some support will help me stay on course.
