Welcome, I'm 66 but mentally still 30. My goal is similar to yours and SparkPeople is the first time I have been successful in making a dent in my weight, just in my 3rd week and learning how much I have to exercise to make a difference. Logging my food has taught me a lot about what went wrong. Wish I would have learned this years ago before contending with back surgery as now it is harder to move around, BUT I WILL BE SUCCESSFUL this time. Log every bit that goes i. your mouth, read the Articles and find an exercise plan that fits. Good luck!
Welcome! I'm 61 and have been on almost every diet, but I've been able to lose with the help and inspiration of Sparkpeople. I know you can do it! Just be patient and gentle with yourself, and don't let that birthday get to you!
I'm right there with you!!! I've been on every DIET know to man and then some, but to no avail. When it finally clicked with me that this isn't a DIET, but a lifestyle change, things started moving and shaking!!! Everything just fell into divine order, and God has really blessed me. I just wish I had been on this site for my entire journey. To date, I've lost 176 lbs. in 13 months. GOD IS REALLY GOOD!!! Yes, I rearranged my entire life, to fit around my new eating habits, and my exercise that I do. It's working, praise the Lord!!!

I to have tried every diet and every pill out there. There is no magic bullet. I have to track every thing that I eat. I will be 75yrs in a few weeks and have lost 50 lbs with Sparks. Still have a lot to go, but this time I will do it and never have to keep losing the same pound over and over again.

My name is Elaine. I live in western Montana. I will have my 60th birthday in November and rather dread it. My head feels young but my physical being feels well my age. I am mostly vegetarian. I eat healthy but just too much without sufficient exercise. I am a "diet" veteran, having used Weight Watchers several times as well as many other ways of trying to lose for good the 20+ extra I am carrying around and have gaining and losing for years. Anyway, I hope to stick with it this time with support from others in the same situation.
