glad you and hubby are joining us on this journey to a healthy lifestyle. I love my crockpot. It can take cheap cuts of meat and make them tender. I use the broth for other dishes. That way I can control the amount of sodium. I also have HBP but losing weight has allow the Dr's to reduce my meds to one small pill taken daily.

Both my husband and I are on BP meds and I am responsible for both of us taking the meds and eating healthy foods without excess sodium (which quite difficult to monitor for someone else). The main thing I do to control sodium for him is not buy some of his favorite things that are super high in sodium such as beef broth which he had a habit of drinking cold. The best way of keeping those foods out of the house is grocery shopping by myself. I have had to take responsibility for this as much as possible due to his advancing Alzheimer's.
I need to lose about 50 lb to keep my blood pressure in the normal range and continue with a low sodium diet and increase my exercises. When I started Lisinopril in January ot this year I had a really bad cough and finally convinced my doctor to change to another antihypertensive drug which didn't work as well. Now I am on a 3rd one called Norvasc and things seem to be stable with no noticeable side-effects.
