Hi Tiffany, welcome! I am a mom to five also, three biological, two adopted, but all mine are grown and married. You sound like you are on the right path - making good food choices, finding some kind of exercise you can enjoy doing and making lifestyle changes is what leads to success. May I suggest you look into these two Spark pages: Indygirl and Kitt52. Both have lost well over 100 pounds and kept it off. They both have lots of good tips and are very supportive to others. Also, the team Progress Not Perfection is excellent for support and suggestions.

Hi, there! My name is Tiffany, and I'm from Alabama - up near Birmingham. Typical story... girl meets chocolate cake, girl falls in love with chocolate cake, chocolate cake makes girl buy elastic waistband pants...
Seriously, though, I'm a mom of 5 - a step-daughter in her 30's, a son who would've been 20 this year, a daughter who's about to turn 19, and two who live at home still - aged 12 and 9. That's what my Spark Name means, by the way - TALK is the first letter of each of my biological children's names. I'm also married to a wonderful man - this year will be our 13th. I almost lost him in 2010 to a massive heart attack that destroyed 1/3 of his heart - and it's because of this that I've been yo-yo'ing on diets ever since. I actually found SparkPeople because I was researching the 'hype' of a program and I came across the comments offered by some of the members regarding the program. I have since decided to join the community, as you can tell, instead of investing in yet another program that'll probably not work for me anyway.
So far, I've done many different things, and right now I just want to focus on increasing my exercise, decreasing my calories and making small additional changes to improve my health and the health of my family.
Ok, that's me on a health and family level - personal level, I'm in real estate and my hobbies include singing, writing, drawing and website design. I like to dabble with photos, too, making subtle changes to create my own versions of art. I love animals and the outdoors, and I'm hoping to start a small back yard garden as soon as I figure out HOW and WHEN to begin. I'm pretty sociable and outgoing, and I'm looking for friends here so that I can be part of a support group that will enable me to finally reach my goals - because I'm at the beginning of a VERY long journey. My ultimate goal is to lose over 100 pounds... and while it seems really far away right now, I know that each small step in that direction will ultimately get me there. Any advice or experiences that you can share will be GREATLY appreciated, and I look forward to making many friends here!
