I have sugar snap peas and I love eating them raw. They don't taste the same after they are frozen. I have tomatoes, peppers, onions, potatoes, cucumbers, 3 kind of squash, spinach, lettuce, carrots , beets, okra, kale, yellow and green beans that I also eat raw. Weeding is fun when you have a snack at your finger tips. Good luck with your garden.

In GOD We Trust Choose To Lose "If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." -General George S Patton, U.S.Army, 1912 Olympian
I always have a small garden every year. At my age and living in a mobile home, it's a container garden, no land! I do have tomatos, peppers, lettuce and small carrots. It's so great to make a salad and fill the bowl with the fresh veg's. It's wonderful that you want to start your daughter on this great path. I think that children, if they see the garden grow, pick them and then they enjoy eating them. It's a shame that many children think that everything comes from a market.

My daughter turns 10 this week, and my goal over the next several months is to start a garden. Eating fresh vegetables starts at home with family, and I know from personal experience that carrots and onions taste better when you grow them yourself! Who has a story of picking sugar snap peas and eating them right off the vine (or something similar)?
