Welcome John. Wanting to compete in a triathlon doesn't sound funny at all. Everyone has to have a goal and that's a pretty good one. You won't achieve it next month, but it gives you something to work towards. I have a feeling you'll get there.

In GOD We Trust Choose To Lose "If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." -General George S Patton, U.S.Army, 1912 Olympian
Guess I am supposed to introduce myself here. Here goes: Hi, I am John. I am a little (OK, a lot) heavy and I guess it's time for a Change. I've been a rather large guy for all my life and I just got used to it, and even joked about it. Lately though, I've been feeling the need to do something different and get in shape. This may sound funny, but I seriously want to participate in a Triathlon.
I'm hoping that the tools/resources/community here are SparkPeople will help me to realize this goal and finally get in shape.
I have 3 wonderful kids (20, 6, 2) that are looking to me to be a role model to them, and sitting all day on the chair surfing the web is not the role model I want to be.
Please feel free to visit my blog (I'm new to blogging so bear with me) or send me a message. I need to be online at least a few quick times a day to log my food and update the blog.
