Hi there. I'm Nicolle; a 20-year-old uni student from South Australia who is very new to SparkPeople. I thought it might keep me on track and help my lack of motivation. How have your experiences with SparkPeople been?

I was always a bit overweight growing up but after going through a bout of depression most of last year, I have reached the obese stage. My family has a history of diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure/heart disease and although I have none of the symptoms of these things yet, I know that if I continue to live the way that I do these problems will arise.

I really want to avoid this family pattern of unhealthiness and instead get healthy, hot, and happy so I can enjoy life more thoroughly. After all, I am only 20 and my insecurities about my weight stop me from doing a lot of the things I want to do. It is time for a change. I am hoping to lose about 30kg (68lbs) by October this year. So, hopefully going from 95kg to 65kg. I have lost weight before and gotten down to 65 and I liked being that weight. I have set this goal time mainly because I want to be able to feel confident in a short dress at my 21st birthday in October.

I also have goals this year to thwart my depression and to be more social and do better at uni. So it will be interesting to see how well I can lose weight on top of these struggles too. So far, it is going smoothly - Just have to keep focused.

If you have any tips, words of support, or just want to chat, add me as a friend.
Here's to the start of a lot of hard work!
Thanks for reading,
Nic xo
