Welcome to the High Blood Pressure team, YAQOOB1983 -- if you have any questions about using the Spark People site, please don't be afraid to ask (either here on the discussion boards, or you can always send me a Spark Mail). You may want to try checking your BP a few times other than in the doctor's office -- if you don't have your own monitor, many grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. have a machine that you can use -- be sure to sit for a couple of minutes before turning it on, and record your numbers so you can take them to your physician.
Best wishes -- Sandy

You are right to watch you bp and not let it get to high. it can lead to many health complications, of this I know well, as I have had health issues brought on by not paying attention to my bp and my health in general. That is all behind me now as I am living a healthy lifestyle, Watching my nutrition and getting regular exercise and of course monitoring my bp. May God bless you!

In GOD We Trust Choose To Lose "If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." -General George S Patton, U.S.Army, 1912 Olympian

I clicked the HBP group during my set-up even though I'm not sure that I truly have HBP. One visit to my doctor will show that my BP is high enough to require medication. The next visit it will be normal even though I have been out of medication for months.
I think that my BP is much more closely related to my stress level, than any internal pathology. However, I think that it shows a predisposition towards hypertension farther down the road. So it is probably in my best interest to do what I can now to avoid complications later.
