Hi Cynthia and Welcome. Good luck on controlling your BP with diet. I am a vegetarian, borderline vegan since 2011, and my weight is good for my height and age. Then this past Sept I was diagnosed with HBP and an aortic aneurysm. Maybe I should have given up meat a few years earlier?? Like in my teens?? But HBP, heart disease, high cholesterol and diabetes are hereditary in my family. I guess I lost the "luck of the draw". At least I don't have diabetes. I am not bitter or anything, my health issues are just something I have to learn to live with or "grin and bear it" as my grandmother used to say. She lived to be 97.
Anyway, glad to have you on-board!

Welcome and good luck

Welcome! Spark People is a great place to find the support and tools that you need to achieve your goals -- using the nutrition tracker has been a huge help to me, I enter everything diligently, good or bad, and try to do so in advance so I can make any necessary adjustments. There is a wealth of information under the "healthy lifestyle" tab above, and the community is very supportive.
An article that I just "discovered" this morning, that I think should be required reading for all members, is "Five Signs It's Time to Get Serious About Weight Loss" --
Best wishes for success -- I hope we'll be "seeing" you here often!
