Hi Cynthia and Welcome. Good luck on controlling your BP with diet. I am a vegetarian, borderline vegan since 2011, and my weight is good for my height and age. Then this past Sept I was diagnosed with HBP and an aortic aneurysm. Maybe I should have given up meat a few years earlier?? Like in my teens?? But HBP, heart disease, high cholesterol and diabetes are hereditary in my family. I guess I lost the "luck of the draw". At least I don't have diabetes. I am not bitter or anything, my health issues are just something I have to learn to live with or "grin and bear it" as my grandmother used to say. She lived to be 97.
