i use a salad plate as my dinner plate.

i keep mandrtan oranges in the fridge. when the sweet tooth comes on i grab one or two tablespoons of the fruit.

Welcome Janice.

If you are borderline HBP, you are very lucky to have caught it early. But, like Nan says, it could be the "white coat syndrome". emoticon I love her sense of humor! And yes, it could have been the meds you were taking for your cold.

But... It got you here and gave you the motivation to lose the extra weight. Utilize the tools provided here. I did and am now maintaining a healthy weight for my height and age. I am looking forward to getting to know you.

Could also have been white coat syndrome. Just the doc taking it can make it go up. Mine has to be taken twice and it ALWAYS drops the second go.

Hi Everyone,

I was recently at my doctor's office for an infection and during my exam they (of course) took my BP. I was shocked at the numbers they came up with. They did mention that the Sudafed I was taking for my sinus infection could have raised my BP by quite a bit, but even so, I was very unhappy with my BP reading.

Of course, they instantly mentioned how overweight I am and that diet and especially exercise would be of great benefit in trying to get my BP down. Soooooooo, here I am. No one in my family has had high BP and I am hoping that my readings were just a combination of my med use, stress/illness, and/or a onetime event.

On the other hand, there is nothing like motivation when you are trying to get yourself on track with diet and exercise.

I am hoping that I can actually convince myself to check in here at least a couple times a week.

Thanks
Janice / Joiha Wolverton
