Welcome David. I too was in denial about my BP. Did not want to be on medication. My turning point was when it went up to 220/120 and I ended up in the ER as well. I am on 1 medication a day but would love to get off of it someday. Best wishes on your journey to a healthier you.

Welcome, David ! I was in denial about my BP for years too, and eventually it was also in that extremely high range and I finally decided I'd better do something before the top of my head blew off or something... My MD thinks that losing even 20 pounds could let me get off the meds, so that is part of my motivation for losing weight, but only a small part of the big picture for me. You've come to a great place for support and the tools for making the changes you need to achieve your goals -- interacting on the message boards lets you not only get encouragement and support, but to give it as well. I'm looking forward to "seeing" you here...

In GOD We Trust Choose To Lose "If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." -General George S Patton, U.S.Army, 1912 Olympian

Doesn't pay to be in denial. I remember when my BP first began to go up. I was in my early 40's. I just didn't believe it. BUT, I did keep checking it. finally after 28 years, I am on a sm. amt. of med...that along with my natural stuff keeps it in check.

hello my name is david and i have been here for two weeks and have not posted here. here goes. i have been diagnosed with hp for about three to four years. it runs in the family. it is under control with meds. all my adult life i have been asked if i had hp whenever i went to the doctors, dentists etc. i told them no. it was not until i ended up in the er that i was diagnosed with it. i was weak and lightheaded and almost passed out and took my bp and it was three numbers over three numbers. i called right after that. now it is under control.
