Welcome David. I too was in denial about my BP. Did not want to be on medication. My turning point was when it went up to 220/120 and I ended up in the ER as well. I am on 1 medication a day but would love to get off of it someday. Best wishes on your journey to a healthier you.

THIS WORKS. WENT ON WEEKS CRUISE DID NOT GAIN A POUND.

my sister walks 15,000 steps a day at 63 years
old and has lost 105 pounds. she went from a size 24 to a size 10. all her health issues dropped off as the 105 pounds dropped off. took 16 months.

i gave up grain and sugary products and have lost 44 pounds at age 60. i went from a size 18 to a size 10 shorts and medium tops from a 1 or 2x. took 7 months.

use a salad plate as a dinner plate

use fruit for your sweet tooth cravings, an apple works great. helps with the chewing sensation.

fill your salad plate with half vegetables.

we are both still loosing weight until we reach our goal

Welcome, David ! I was in denial about my BP for years too, and eventually it was also in that extremely high range and I finally decided I'd better do something before the top of my head blew off or something... My MD thinks that losing even 20 pounds could let me get off the meds, so that is part of my motivation for losing weight, but only a small part of the big picture for me. You've come to a great place for support and the tools for making the changes you need to achieve your goals -- interacting on the message boards lets you not only get encouragement and support, but to give it as well. I'm looking forward to "seeing" you here...

Doesn't pay to be in denial. I remember when my BP first began to go up. I was in my early 40's. I just didn't believe it. BUT, I did keep checking it. finally after 28 years, I am on a sm. amt. of med...that along with my natural stuff keeps it in check.

hello my name is david and i have been here for two weeks and have not posted here. here goes. i have been diagnosed with hp for about three to four years. it runs in the family. it is under control with meds. all my adult life i have been asked if i had hp whenever i went to the doctors, dentists etc. i told them no. it was not until i ended up in the er that i was diagnosed with it. i was weak and lightheaded and almost passed out and took my bp and it was three numbers over three numbers. i called right after that. now it is under control. emoticon
