loosing weight will help with your blood pressure.

THIS WORKS. WENT ON WEEKS CRUISE DID NOT GAIN A POUND.

my sister walks 15,000 steps a day at 63 years
old and has lost 105 pounds. she went from a size 24 to a size 10. all her health issues dropped off as the 105 pounds dropped off. took 16 months.

i gave up grain and sugary products and have lost 44 pounds at age 60. i went from a size 18 to a size 10 shorts and medium tops from a 1 or 2x. took 7 months.

use a salad plate as a dinner plate

use fruit for your sweet tooth cravings, an apple works great. helps with the chewing sensation.

fill your salad plate with half vegetables.

we are both still loosing weight until we reach our goal

emoticon Best wishes on your journey to a healthier you. I agree with using the reports to see what each food has individually. Lets me see which choices are higher in sodium than others.

Hi Pat..Welcome. I'm sorry about your dx but you have taken an important step in tracking your sodium!
I'm also tracking other nutrients including potassium which is proven to aid emoticon HBP. And of course, weight loss is a key component to lowering bp.
If you look below your food plan on the right side are some rectangular boxes.
one says.."SEE TODAYS FULL REPORT".
Click there and a new page will provide you with added information about nutrients. Specifically I look for low salt and high potassium!
It should automatically be included as you are a member of this group.

Thank you. I am using the sodium tracker. Is there a way to have it track each of the food items or will it just give you the total sodium count taken?

you will get lots of help here. Use the nutrition tracker to help track your sodium intake. If you are like me you will be amazed at how much sodium you take in each day. there are many more tools to use and many sparkpeople to help you and encourage you along the way. emoticon
