I want to jump on board and welcome you to the team. These ladies are great. They have really been an encouragement.

Like you I carry a lot of weight. I have found that starting slowly on the exercise has been a big reason that I am having some success. Make the determination to get at least 10 min. of movement in a day. Then up it to twice a day.

Thanks very much ladies. First I would like to apologize for posting in the wrong place.. lol I was in such a rush this morning to get ready for work but also wanted to join before I left. I hit the new post button instead of reply. I hope all is forgiven. Thanks for the warm welcome. I really don't think of myself as on a diet but every now and gain that "dirty" word slips out.. lol I have changed my way of eating and I know this time around, I can make the journey to better health because I have too. Welcome back to the group TeraseeI(that's a pretty name).. I wish I had a fantastic story about my nickname but I gave it to myself.. lol No special reason. I hope I don't bore you ladies on the boards. I have a tendency to run my fingers a bit much.. lol I was a member of a group here some time back but life caught up with me and I dropped out. Here for for the duration and hopefully we can all give each other support to keep going. Thanks again for the warm welcome. It's appreciated.

I am Terasee (tare' uh see) I just rejoined this group a couple of days ago. I played hookey for about 5 months! But some of these ladies never left me alone for too too long, if you know what I mean. Still leaving me messages on my spark page and sending me sparkmail.

Now that is what I call friendship! I really appreciate it. So, when I did come back where did I go? You got it, back to these wonderful friends here.

emoticon Carmel. I would like to ask how U got that nickname? Susie is right about the changing one thing at a time, but she is really on the target when she says to forget about diets. I have to change my thinking on this also. I think we have been taught from a little girl to GO ON A DIET!

I watch a show called The Doctor's, and on there are 4 very good doctor's who give advice and on the show yesterday they talked about the best weight lose, low fat verses high protein and low carbs and it was proved those who watch calorie intake took off more weight and kept it off and of course exercised.

This is a wonderful group here and I hope U find your journey here a good one. Anna emoticon emoticon

Hi Carmel and welcome to the team

Let's hope you get the help you need here, first I would have to say, stop dieting, it doesn't work, we just put it all back on and more. This is about learning to eat and live a healthy lifestyle, for the rest of our lives and not just a quick fix to get some weight off. We will have good days and bad days, but as long as we learn as we go along it will work out in the end.
I try to walk each day, some days I do it..lol
If you can't do long walks split it down into 2 or 3 smaller walks. 10 minutes 2 or 3 times a day is great to start with, don't try to change everything at once or you will be discouraged and pack it in. Pick one thing a week to work on, maybe getting in 8 glasses of water, or at lest 5 fruit and/or veggies, walking 20 minutes a day and build up to each one in turn, don't over reach yourself

Hello everyone, my nickname is Carmel and I'm a professional dieter....not a very good one, but been at it most of my life. At 57, I have started to have health problems and my weight has become a major issue. I need to make the journey to fitness and lose over 150 lbs. I have lost and gained so many times with my biggest weight lost being 120 lbs. only to gain it all back. No more! I have to stop the yo yo syndrome and lose the weight. Exercising is something I have problems with so hopefully I can get the support here to not only lose the weight but learn to exercise and keep it going. It's nice to be here and hopefully get to know you by giving and receiving support. Thanks so much for letting me join. I hope everyone has a great day.
