Welcome Welcome Welcome to all.

Michelle, a tape measure is my best friend when the scale is not. For YEARS my weight stayed the same. But I was working out hard and eating right and couldn't understand WHY I wasn't losing weight. I was however losing inches and my endurance was incredible. Then all of a sudden I was losing weight.

Welcome to the team Kristin, Carra, and Michelle!
I'm not an ex-NYer, lol, but I have been on SP off and on for years and am back again to make things happen for real and forever this time :)
Sounds like we're all in good company!
Good luck and best wishes to you all on your journeys to health ... feel free to add me as a friend and we can all do this together :)

My name is Michelle, I'm 48 and live in Colorado. I've been on SP off and on (mostly off) the last few years. But I came back in December. I get discouraged because I don't see results right away. I was pretty sure I had lost like 10 lbs. in the last year, but according to my PA, I weigh the same as I did last year, so that kind of discouraged me. Although my "fat" jeans do fit better. I am a stay-at-home caretaker for my mom. I get bored and eat. I just need to make up my mind that I'm going to lose the weight even if I don't have somebody to encourage me.

Welcome Krisin and Carra!
I too am an ex-NYer been in GA for 28 years.
Carra I was on a number of years ago as well, and decided to come back a couple of months ago. If nothing else, it is keeping me accountable. I am back on regular workouts and I do pretty well with my eating most of the time so that is definitely something.

Hi my name is Carra and I have been on SP for a number of years, but I haven't been on since 2011 when i completely gave up. I am back again and as usual I am hoping this time will be the right time.

Hi there! My name is Kristin - I will be turning 40 in October emoticon I am getting back on track with a healthy lifestyle. I am lucky to say my DH is on track too! Makes it so nice to be able to do it together! This is my first week back.... I am an elementary school teacher (5th grade) I have been teaching for 16 years! (where does the time go??) I grew up in NY and moved to NC to teach.... and here I still am in NC. I have always struggled with my weight and stress eating.... I am trying to work on the stress eating, it is definately a daily battle!

Well that is a bit about me... if there is anything you want to know I am pretty much an open book so please ask away!

Hi everybody! My name is Sherre. I am 42 and from Florida. I have been on SP for several years but just got really motivated this past Feb. I set my goal at one pound a week to my birthday in July. I thought that sounded achievable and realistic. That would put me at 20 pounds off of my actual 30 pound goal. In six weeks I have lost 13 pounds and am already ahead of my goal! Achieving this has made me really proud and motivated to keep going!

Best wished to everyone in your own personal journey to getting healthy!

Hello, my name is Adrienne, I am 46 the mother of two. I have hypothyroidism and was suffering horribly from fatigue and weight gain. I decided this week to take myself from sedentary to active. I want to lose weight and feel healthy again. I set my goal to exercise at least 10 minutes a day to start. I passed that goal day 1. I feel so much better already. My goal remains to become more active and to lose weight. emoticon

Hi all! I'm Tiffany and I just turned the big 4-0 in January but I definitely don't feel 40 (how did this happen anyway? I swear I was 30 last week. Lol!). I have probably 90 or so pounds to lose but I'm trying to focus on the smaller goals because that just seems like a huge amount to go otherwise! Looking forward to getting to know you all. :)

Hello All!
Just joined this group. I've been with SP for many years, with a few starts and stops and screen name changes. Over the past 6 years I've lost and gained the same 20-25 lbs over and over... but never reaching my goal weight. So now, I'm back at it again. My goal is to lose a total of 40 lbs in 2014 -- and finally hit my goal weight this time! I gave up all junk food for Lent as a "jump start", and am currently on day 6 going strong. My normal weigh in day is Friday. Look forward to getting to know some of you!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Lori! I am 47 years old and am a full time working Mom and Wife. I originally joined back in 2011 and didn't fully utilize the program! I had lost a good amount of weight emoticon but after suffering a serious hand injury I went back to my old ways and started to feel sorry for myself....with that came all the weight and little or no exercise! But not anymore! I have jumped back into my life and am getting back on track. I am very happy to be part of this team and look forward to our journey together!! emoticon

Hello :)

My name is Holly. I am 43 years old, and have been a member of Sparkpeople since 2006. The first time, I went from 235 to 160 (10 pounds from goal), and then over the course of the last 5 years, I've gained half of it back.

I am really looking for a really active group with lots of friendship, support, and encouragement, and I hope to find it here!!

Thank you
Holly

Hello everybody :)
I was a member of SparkPeople previously and had some success but then I lost my focus and gained some (most) of the weight back again. I wanted to get started again with the new year but found myself sick the entire month of January so here I am, into February, and it's just as good a time as any to get going :)

I'm letting go of my stressors and giving it all to God and I will journey with Him and see where He takes me! emoticon

I'm excited to be back here with SparkPeople again for tracking and support and motivation and hope that I can be a blessing to anybody who needs it as we all work on our health endeavors together :)

Hey all!
I'm Tomika. I joined SP back in 2012 but did not become active until December 2013.
Since then I have been on logging on and have dropped some weight. I still have over
60 lbs. left before my goal weight.

Howdy...I'm back after 4 years of being lost...I had lost mad weight with the help of Spark, then, of all things, ran into health issues and other side tracking things as life can throw.

I want to get me healthy, and up my mood, etc...I know too well, that you feel about yourself, is a HUGE factor in reaching goals.

I'm married and we have 4 sons between us, my 18 year old, his 17, 15 and 11 year old. My hubby is with me no matter what, and, after 10 years together, we have only gotten stronger.

He likes a "big woman", but, he can like me as a smaller, big woman =0)

Hi ya'll
I am back to doing sparkpeople after a 3 year hiatus. I had a baby boy at the age of 43 ITS IS NOT easy. I want to get back to my healthy lifestyle I had before he was born. I want to be able to keep up with him and my other 2. I am putting me back on the list and letting everybody know. LOL I want to help motivate others while motivating myself. Yes there will be ups and downs but with support from others we can do it.

Its all about being positive this year. No more negativity.

Hi, my name is Laurie, I'm 42 and have a total of abot 170 pounds to lose. I've been on and off sparkpeople for quite a few years. I've recently decided to leave my job and live off of my savings for a few months while I reprioritize my life. I'm doing well at getting my food on track and tomorrow I start going back to the gym. Definitely interested in an oline buddy to keep checking in with.

My name is Leslie, I joined SparkPeople a couple of years ago, but did not keep up with it. I am back and really serious about staying active here and in life. I am 42 and have always struggled with my weight. I know what to do, I just have a really hard time staying motivated and saying no to the really bad foods (like it doesn't help when I'm sitting here looking at TombStone Pizza at the top of the page)! I know I have to find a way to stay on track and that this is a life style change and it is forever, not just until I lose a certain amount of weight. Here's to new beginnings... AGAIN!

Good morning everyone. My name is Michelle. I have been overweight my whole life and I am finally doing something about it. I have tried and failed several times, but it is at the point where my weight is taking a toll on my body. I am tired of living my life always feeling so uncomfortable about myself. I have 180 lbs to loose and although it is a lot I know I can finally do this.

Hi there, I am 40 years young, and I have been on Sparkpeople for just over 4 years. I have succeeded at losing weight on the program in the past. I ran a half marathon. However, over the last 3 years my health has been very poor, with improvements over the last 9 months slowly. Running is no longer an option, so I have begun walking. This week I am getting very serious again about losing weight, my big change to make this happen is tracking my food and staying in range. My name is Marie and this is far from my first attempt to lose weight. Most of my "diet plans" go well for the first 3 weeks, then I get tired or I get hungry and that's that...I end up right back where I started. I'm the single mother of 2 girls ages 18 and 7. I am a 911 dispatcher and I love my job as it defines part of who I am. I work quarterly rotating shifts, where I literally sit for 10 hours 4 to 6 days a week. I'm tired all of the time and lack the motivation to even exercise. I would like to lose about 50 pounds and need all the support that I can get. My start date is March 14th.

Hi, everyone! My name is Jennie, and I am 40 with two young boys (ages 6 and 4) and work full-time as an education coach for struggling schools. With summer approaching, I am really motivated to get on track with eating healthy and becoming more fit. I was successful in shedding about 30 pounds in the past, then I had my two boys and have struggled to lose weight again. I am really trying to focus on one day at a time rather than the daunting 45 lbs. I'd like to lose. I feel like a healthy, thin person trapped in a fat girl's body! Can't wait to see results and experience success!

Hi, my name is Jacqui, I'm 47 years old and hoping to lose this extra weight (50lbs) once and for all. As I'm getting nearer the 50 years old mark, I would like to be fitter and healthier, as there are health problems in my family and would like to avoid them as much as possible. I would love to be more active and have more energy for my grandchildren (2 of them, 5 years old, and 4 days old). I've also just started a home study course to become a Nutrition Consultant, and would like to 'practice what I preach'. So here's to getting it right this time, the weight coming off and staying off for good.

Hi yall! I sure hope I am doing this right, its only my 3rd here..On january 12th, i started my diet and eating changing habits. As of yesterday January 20th, I lost 5-7lbs I am not a real big exerciser, only because, I do manual labor work for my job, working on a horse ranch, cleaning stalls.. on my feet for about 3hrs in morning then 90min in evening walking rounds out to about 30-min to an hr.. As for me personally I am 45, live in florida with my husband of 10yrs, and our 2 cats Tigger n Tyger. Reason for my wanting to change my eating habits is because i take a look at my mother and her health problems and aches n pains, and i want i to avoid that. So I am starting now to live healthier, I just need to remain motivated. I look forward to meeting new and interesting folks on here..Good Luck Everyone!

HI alll I see a recurring theme in this group and I am as well a returning member. I joined Spark people back in 2009 and I managed to lose 55 lbs. Some where I fell off not sure why or even really when. But I'm back now and thats what matters. I am a mother of 5 kids 3 are my own and 2 are my husbands. 3 boys 18, 14,13 and 2 girls 13, and 10. I'm looking forward to getting to know some new people and winning the battle. May we all be The Biggest Loser.

Hi, I'm 45 and I've been a Sparker off and on for several years. My first wave was pretty successful - I lost over 30 pounds. Then, I had some abscess teeth and fell off. By the time the dental work was resolved, I was unmotivated to go back. I've tried and failed various times to return. Finally, I feel like I'm ready to do what I need to do to get (and stay) healthy. I've been adjusting my diet and increasing my exercise accordingly. I am starting to feel hopeful that I can do it this time! Glad to find this SparkTeam and see how many people are in the same place I am.

Hi everyone, I am in my late forties. My main motivation for joining is to help me consistently eat better. As I near 50 I feel a lot more aches and pains and I think a lot of it is linked to my diet, especially my sugar intake. I would also like to lose about 30 lbs.

Hi Everyone! My name is Renee and I have used sparkpeople years ago and when I was faithful to it, I was successful. But like a lot of people, I strayed, lot my motivation, gained back everything, and now I'm back, promising myself that I would do this again and stay because I deserve it!

Hi there! I'm not new to SparkPeople but I have been away for a while. I'm back with a few new challenges ... but I'm back. My immediate goal is to get just below the weight I was when I quit last time. It will take some time since I've put on so much since then.

Here we go (yet) again!

Goals:
5 lbs = new earrings
10 lbs = another pair of earings!
15 lbs = ?

Hi everyone. I an 41 and would LOVE to be a big loser myself. I would love to just start to lose weight. I know exactly what my problem is, I don't exercise. I am eating correctly, reading labels, if I can't pronounce it or if there are a lot of ingredients I don't buy it. I have 3 children: daughter 15, son 14 and son 12 and have been happily married for almost 19 years now. I need to lose weight, for my health and to feel better about myself.

Hello all. My name is Sandy and I am starting all over again. About 6 years ago I got divorced and lost 70 pounds in a year and a half just working out and enjoying less food. I ended up getting sick and gained it all back, plus some. The hardest thing was having to get a bigger wedding dress. My husband is super supportive and it is now time to start seriously. I hope to be inspirational and inspired. I will be 40 on Thanksgiving Day so I figured this was a good group to join.

You CAN do it! The only day that is important is today. Take control of your life and LIVE!

Hello everyone. My name is Michelle. I was a very active Sparker about four years ago. Then I lost my spark and got lazy again. Quit tracking my food, which led to poor food choices. Quit my spark teams, so I wasn't held accountable for my exercise minutes anymore. so I quit that too. Now here I am, heavier than I have ever been and trying once again to be healthy.

Hi all. I have been on the diet and exercise rollercoaster for too long. I lost 15 pounds about 3 months ago and have gained back 7 due to poor eating. I have 45-50 pounds to lose now and I am ready to get a handle on this weight thing.

Hi everyone. I have been on sparkpeople for quite awhile, and I have almost reached my weight goal twice, but then I blew it. Once I get close to the maintaining stage, I seem get undiciplined. Anyway, I am now back to square 1. I have been inactive on SP for 8 months or so, and before that things were sliding. I have about 40 pounds to lose. I have not weighed myself yet or changed my weight on the tracker thing. I will face the music tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!

I am 40 yrs old and looking forward to get healthy and losing weight. 14mths ago I dislocated my kneecap at work. It really took a toll on my body! I worked as a restaurant manager and 2 months after the injury, I landed my dream job as an Administrative Assistant for the regional business office of a national company. The only downfall is that I am mostly sitting in front of a computer.
I have never been one who enjoyed just "working out" and have found it hard to get motivated. My husband and I switched to a vegetarian diet almost a year ago and he has lost a lot of weight but I still seem to be stuck on a plateau. It is very hard for me to be only 10 lbs lighter than my 6 ft husband.
I'm hoping that getting back with Sparkpeople will give me back my drive and allow me to reach my goals.
Looking forward to hearing from the team and will support you with all my heart!
Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Hi all.

I am 40 yrs old, married with two kids. I am from Indiana and on my weight loss journey since last year. I have currently lost 60 pounds and have 40 more pounds to go until I reach my weight loss goal. I am a current member of WeightWatchers and have been since beginning my journey. I love to walk as exercise, but have in the past few days added in weight machine to tone arms and chest and have been doing some crunches, jumping jacks and leg exercises to my new regimine. I realize I have alot of toning to do to get my body half way to where I would like for it to be. I with 100 lb weight loss total that will take alot of toning!!! I am in need of alot of encouragement to get rid of this weight and any helpful hints is greatly appreciated!

Hi all - I've been on SP before - found it helpful, but lost sight of my goals for a while. I'm back now, and working on taking one step at a time to make life changes rather than reaching a goal of a particular weight loss. That will come with the life changes!

Hi everyone. I actually started my weight loss right before Thanksgiving. Did really well through the holidays & lost 10 lbs. Last month I started to slack off & have gained 3 lbs back. I work 2nd shift M-F, have 2 elementary aged kids in school during the week so you think I would have plenty of time to exercise. But, that's my downfall. I am just too lazy to exercise. I am some underlying health problem (been trying to figure out what it is) that causes me to fall asleep at the drop of a hat. If I am sitting still for 5 minutes, I am out. When I exercise, I want to lay down & take a nap. I really thought the problem was underactive thyroid, but test after test it always comes back into the normal range & my PCP provides me no other help. Being over 40, I do realize the only way to lose the weight & keep it off is going to be with exercise; so I am hoping joining here will give me the motivation that I need.

Hello everyone! I'm from Virginia and I look forward to the tips and guidance you have to offer.
I think I fall into the same category as most I've seen here, this isn't the first time I've tried to lose weight. I've had many changes in my life recently and I think this time is my time. I'm taking the time to get to know myself again because I lost the person I used to be. I think this is a journey of new beginnings and I'm excited to see what life has to offer.

Hi everyone. My name is Rosalyn and I am Scottish but live in the Netherlands. I have children ranging from 27 to 8 and have always tried to keep my weight down as genetically my family are all big. I did alright until I stopped working and stayed home then stopped smoking 7 months ago and although I was always overweight its now getting ridiculous. I zumba twice a week and have now started 30mins on the treadmill every morning. I am now 84 kilos and need to lose around 20 (44lbs) which is such a daunting task especially at 46 years of age :(

I started keeping my diary today of everything (I am an emotional eater) in the hope that I can see whats going wrong. Its so depressing but I am hoping that if I can actually start losing a little bit then it will get easier.

Anyways, good luck to everyone.

Love Rosie x

Good afternoon! I'm 44 and live in Indiana. I've gone through this weightloss game before so here I go again! I hurt my knee last year and found out that I have arthritis....wasn't really expecting that in my 40's and I just layed around, feeling sorry for myself and gained about 15-20#. I now have about 50# to be at a healthy BMI so I need to get on the ball because I know it's not going to get any easier as I get older and the weight IS affecting my health now with my knees being so sore at times. I know I have to keep moving and be conistent with exercise...which is very difficult for me!!

I look forward to learning from all of your experiences. Thanks!

Hi everyone! My name is Danica. I'm brand new to this site thank you for the great welcome!

I, like the rest of you, am not attempting this whole weight loss thing for the first time. I am trying to get healthy, and for me that means losing weight. It seems that once again I have let things get out of control. I weigh more right now than I ever have in my life, even at 9 months pregnant with my youngest son 15 years ago I didn't weigh as mujch as I do now.

It's time to make a change. I am motivated. I am determined. I have a positive outlook. I am looking forward to seeing the inches melt away. I have the positive reenforcement of my kids. They have even been walking with me at night when I get home from school. lol.., my bodyguards! (cause it's dark when I get home!)

It's nice to meet all of you, I appreciate this site being here.

Hi, I'm Joan, I live in CT-this team describes me perfectly. I lost 100 pounds, gained 60 back and am very depressed and discouraged. I hope this works. I've read the SP book and it's great-I'm a winner at a number of things, but what I really want is to be a big loser in this regard. I wish us all lotsa luck and many blessings.

Hi everyone. I'm Lynda, 54 and want to lose some weight but more importantly get healthier. I have found that since I turned forty the weight goes on easier and is harder to get off!!
I cycle and canoe in the summer but have a hard time exercising in the winter. Also, Since my son has been away at school I have found my biggest challenge is making dinner just for me. Lots of nights it,s take out or popcorn for dinner. Any suggestions that makes cooking for 1 more exciting would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to the SP program and chatting with everyone
