Hello, my name is Gayla and i am 42 years old. My original join date was 1/1/2012. The first year i lost 57 lbs then gained the majority of it back. In 2013 I lost about 42 lbs and kept it off until 2014. So i restarted in january of 2014 and lost 42lbs again but have gained 17 lbs back. As of today, July 14, 2014 I am making a new commitment to myself. I want to lose weight to be a healthy me. We can do this!!

Hello, my name is Jennifer, and I have just joined the group. I am 42 and have been struggling with weight loss for the last 20 years. I have done Jenny Craig, Atkins, Weight Watchers, just to name a few, and have always given up. I need something that I can stick with. Something that works for a single working mom.

Thanks for joining us on your journey to a HEALTHY lifestyle.
Always remember you didn't gain this weight overnight to don't expect to lose it overnight.
SMALL changes.
Don't burn yourself out on LONG Strenuous workouts.. Some times a 10 minute interval is all you need.
Have the support which you will ALWAYS have here.
and I have found journaling helps also.

Hi! My name is Barb and this is my second attempt to keep up with Sparkpeople. My last attempt was in 2011. I have just last week started walking almost every and my 17 year old son has just paid for a 6 month membership to the Y and we are attempting to go up there on M,W,F for workouts and treadmill and on Sat mornings to swim. It is my goal that this will help me to loose the much needed weight that I need to loose. I have a thyroid condition that has a tendency to hinder my ability to loose weight, in the last week have have lost about 2 lbs. This time I have my husbands support in taking the time to exercise and my children are able to go and do many things on their own. Here is to a new start!

I didn't gain it all in a short time so slow and steadily it will come off!

Thank you, Michelle. Yes, hubby is the oldest one. When he's bickering with the oldest son (who is 23 and just graduated from college), I feel like a single mom with teenagers. There are times my ten-year-old daughter is more mature than they are.

I'm done exercising for the day (my day of rest), so I'm off to the kitchen to cook for the dogs while watching my movie -- Hitchcock's "The Trouble With Harry". Great cloudy day movie.

Hello all! My name is Nikki Lynn! I've been a member of Spark for MANY MANY years and LOVE being able to always come back when I need too! I'm a wife of a retired U.S. Army soldier for 24 years. We have 3 kids.... almost 20, 8 and 6, plus a 4-legged baby Jingles our doxie. :) I'm an emotional eater and am trying to work on that issue. Love to hike and spend time with my kiddos, as much as I possibly can! I'm a Pampered Chef Consultant which gives me time with them but does keep me pretty busy too.

Hello everyone!
I am going to try again to jump right in.
I seem to be having trouble getting into the grove of the forums. I don't really have an excuse, except I work a lot so I lose track of the conversation.
I am going to attempt to do better.

My name is Lesa. I am 42 years old. I need to lose about 50 pounds. I lost 130 back in 2010 and then gained 40 back in 2011 surrounding a divorce :(
I have tried to lose the 50, to no avail. When I say I tried...I mean TRIED!
I teach fitness classes (well I did up till April 1st). I was teaching 7 classes a week, following a clean diet, and working a full time job. All of this went on for over 2 years. I didn't lose. I flirted with the same 5 pounds the whole time. I finally have been reduced to a bag of tears.

I did schedule a doctor visit (again. I have gone 3 times during this 2 years to no avail) and asked for a thyroid check.
I am following WW.
There ya have me in a nut shell (sorry if I sound needy...right now, I just am)

My name is Millie and I am 41. I am also an ex-NYer and have been living in MA for 18 yrs. Just like many others here I have been a member of SP for a number of years but have repeatedly fallen off the "wagon". After a week long fight with a stomach virus I lost 9 lbs and I decided that I had no intentions of gaining it back. So here I am back again more than determined than ever. Hi! My name is Jen, I'm 46 and live in NY. I have been a member on and off for several years. But havent been on for awhile. Im currently working on my associates degree. So between doing a lot of late night snacking, grabbing meals on the go, and the bitter winter My health was really going downhill quick. I went to the doctor a few weeks ago. Although I have always been over weight, I had gained 40 lbs in the last 6-8 months. So, I decided I needed to get back on track with a healthier lifestyle.

Michelle, a tape measure is my best friend when the scale is not. For YEARS my weight stayed the same. But I was working out hard and eating right and couldn't understand WHY I wasn't losing weight. I was however losing inches and my endurance was incredible. Then all of a sudden I was losing weight.

My name is Michelle, I'm 48 and live in Colorado. I've been on SP off and on (mostly off) the last few years. But I came back in December. I get discouraged because I don't see results right away. I was pretty sure I had lost like 10 lbs. in the last year, but according to my PA, I weigh the same as I did last year, so that kind of discouraged me. Although my "fat" jeans do fit better. I am a stay-at-home caretaker for my mom. I get bored and eat. I just need to make up my mind that I'm going to lose the weight even if I don't have somebody to encourage me.

I too am an ex-NYer been in GA for 28 years.
Carra I was on a number of years ago as well, and decided to come back a couple of months ago. If nothing else, it is keeping me accountable. I am back on regular workouts and I do pretty well with my eating most of the time so that is definitely something.

Hi there! My name is Kristin - I will be turning 40 in October emoticon I am getting back on track with a healthy lifestyle. I am lucky to say my DH is on track too! Makes it so nice to be able to do it together! This is my first week back.... I am an elementary school teacher (5th grade) I have been teaching for 16 years! (where does the time go??) I grew up in NY and moved to NC to teach.... and here I still am in NC. I have always struggled with my weight and stress eating.... I am trying to work on the stress eating, it is definately a daily battle!

Hi everybody! My name is Sherre. I am 42 and from Florida. I have been on SP for several years but just got really motivated this past Feb. I set my goal at one pound a week to my birthday in July. I thought that sounded achievable and realistic. That would put me at 20 pounds off of my actual 30 pound goal. In six weeks I have lost 13 pounds and am already ahead of my goal! Achieving this has made me really proud and motivated to keep going!

Hello, my name is Adrienne, I am 46 the mother of two. I have hypothyroidism and was suffering horribly from fatigue and weight gain. I decided this week to take myself from sedentary to active. I want to lose weight and feel healthy again. I set my goal to exercise at least 10 minutes a day to start. I passed that goal day 1. I feel so much better already. My goal remains to become more active and to lose weight. emoticon

Just joined this group. I've been with SP for many years, with a few starts and stops and screen name changes. Over the past 6 years I've lost and gained the same 20-25 lbs over and over... but never reaching my goal weight. So now, I'm back at it again. My goal is to lose a total of 40 lbs in 2014 -- and finally hit my goal weight this time! I gave up all junk food for Lent as a "jump start", and am currently on day 6 going strong. My normal weigh in day is Friday. Look forward to getting to know some of you!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Lori! I am 47 years old and am a full time working Mom and Wife. I originally joined back in 2011 and didn't fully utilize the program! I had lost a good amount of weight emoticon but after suffering a serious hand injury I went back to my old ways and started to feel sorry for myself....with that came all the weight and little or no exercise! But not anymore! I have jumped back into my life and am getting back on track. I am very happy to be part of this team and look forward to our journey together!! emoticon

Hello everybody :)
I was a member of SparkPeople previously and had some success but then I lost my focus and gained some (most) of the weight back again. I wanted to get started again with the new year but found myself sick the entire month of January so here I am, into February, and it's just as good a time as any to get going :)

I'm letting go of my stressors and giving it all to God and I will journey with Him and see where He takes me! emoticon

I'm excited to be back here with SparkPeople again for tracking and support and motivation and hope that I can be a blessing to anybody who needs it as we all work on our health endeavors together :)

Howdy...I'm back after 4 years of being lost...I had lost mad weight with the help of Spark, then, of all things, ran into health issues and other side tracking things as life can throw.

I want to get me healthy, and up my mood, etc...I know too well, that you feel about yourself, is a HUGE factor in reaching goals.

I'm married and we have 4 sons between us, my 18 year old, his 17, 15 and 11 year old. My hubby is with me no matter what, and, after 10 years together, we have only gotten stronger.

He likes a "big woman", but, he can like me as a smaller, big woman =0)

Hi ya'll
I am back to doing sparkpeople after a 3 year hiatus. I had a baby boy at the age of 43 ITS IS NOT easy. I want to get back to my healthy lifestyle I had before he was born. I want to be able to keep up with him and my other 2. I am putting me back on the list and letting everybody know. LOL I want to help motivate others while motivating myself. Yes there will be ups and downs but with support from others we can do it.

Its all about being positive this year. No more negativity.

Hi, my name is Laurie, I'm 42 and have a total of abot 170 pounds to lose. I've been on and off sparkpeople for quite a few years. I've recently decided to leave my job and live off of my savings for a few months while I reprioritize my life. I'm doing well at getting my food on track and tomorrow I start going back to the gym. Hi my name is Tami, I joined Spark awhile back and really never kept up on it.... I just turned 40 in Oct and I hate how much weight I have gained , I hate the way I look and feel so I really need to get on it!!!! I am also a teacher so I do alot of sitting, so I started walking in my classroom 15 in the morning and 15 min at my lunch time I am also counting my steps with a step tracker. I really need help staying motivated.....I fall off really easy....I have set a goal of 60 pounds by the end of May 2014....So here I go.... AGAIN

My name is Leslie, I joined SparkPeople a couple of years ago, but did not keep up with it. I am back and really serious about staying active here and in life. I am 42 and have always struggled with my weight. I know what to do, I just have a really hard time staying motivated and saying no to the really bad foods (like it doesn't help when I'm sitting here looking at TombStone Pizza at the top of the page)! I know I have to find a way to stay on track and that this is a life style change and it is forever, not just until I lose a certain amount of weight. Here's to new beginnings... AGAIN!
