Tried the baking soda last night, and at first it hurt worse and I thought I was going to get sick. Then I began to belch and it felt a lot better. After about an hour of belching every so often it got better and I felt better too. I think I'd try it again if the pain gets too much, as it seemed to set off a reaction that ended up with things better.

I tried one of the breakfast meal options described in "Pain-Free in 1 Day" which was having all fruit and just water to drink. I had a medium banana and about a half cup of canned (no juice) peaches. I increasingly began to hurt until I was at about a 4. At about that time I ate raw celery with peanut butter and raw carrots along with tea (creamora & sugar added) to drink, and things got better until I was maybe almost a 1. I remained there the rest of the day, until eating supper when it started going up again (Supper was Rice with butter, Pork a sliver of beef, cooked carrots, 1/8 cup applesauce & water).

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference!

Hi!

I was diagnosed as having GERD on Dec. 8, 2011, when after about a year of pain I took the plunge and went to the doctor. They did an electrocadiogram and ruled out heart problems which was a relief. Filling the prescription at Walmart, the pharmicist there was so very helpful. He said the medicine they prescribed should not be taken more than 4 months or it hurts the kidney! Needless to say, I am now interested in getting relief by more natural means!

He suggested writing down everything I eat and then recording my GERD pain levels to help figure out what to eat. I've been doing this, but still at the best after eating I usually get up to a 3.5 or 4 on the pain scale (0 Nothing - 10 Too painful to bear - seek doctor!). I'm excited about this spark team and hope to gain good information here.

Some things I'm going to try that I've found here is using baking soda (1 tsp to 1/2 cup water) when it gets bad. I'm going to try eating according to a website recommended by someone on this team. Here's how the email I received from the website begins:

"Here's your Special Report 'Pain-Free In 1 Day'

=======================================
Here's your Special Report,
"Pain-Free in 1 Day" and white paper,
"What Your Doctor Won't Tell You About Digestive Pain."
- http://www.greattastenopain.com/freereport
s/ "

Obviously to get the report I had to go to that website.

Anyway, I'm excited to have a forum to explore ideas and get help for this very painful condition. It's such a tiring condition too (because it just doesn't go away)!!!!!

Hello! I was just diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and GERD on Friday, after several years of suffering. It seemed that I couldn't get anyone to listen. Even had my gall bladder out! Of course, it wasn't working either, so that wasn't all bad. I want to try to do this as naturally as possible, without a ton of meds and/or surgery! Hoping to find answers and support here!

Hi everyone,
I have taken the step to join the team here becasue I can't seem to get the support from people that I know. I don't know anyone who is suffering from GERD. I am a 31year old male and was diagnosed with GERD back in January after a session of vomiting blood and the occasional vomiting up meal (which still happens occasionally), as well as heartburn. I used to smoke and drink alcohol (Both of which I have now quit) I have had an endoscopy to confirm my condition. I understand that certain foods are going to upset my condition so I am eating better and exercising daily (cycling). I am also on Pariet 20MG Medication. Does anyone else experience chest pain? I don't mean heartburn, that pain I am familiar with. The pain feels like a "pressing" pain in the middle of the chest that takes my breathe away for a few seconds and is then releived by belching (Those deep chesty belches). My doc has checked my heart and says it's all fine but the feeling scares thw absolute bijeezers out of me!). Also, has anyone experienced IBS with this condition? I am also interested in hearing anyones secrets with regard to what can be eaten or drank to help my condition (I eat Apples as soon as I have reflux....does the trick!)

Thanks everyone, I loook forward to hearing from people who are in the same shoes!
