I was diagnosed as having GERD on Dec. 8, 2011, when after about a year of pain I took the plunge and went to the doctor. They did an electrocadiogram and ruled out heart problems which was a relief. Filling the prescription at Walmart, the pharmicist there was so very helpful. He said the medicine they prescribed should not be taken more than 4 months or it hurts the kidney! Needless to say, I am now interested in getting relief by more natural means!
He suggested writing down everything I eat and then recording my GERD pain levels to help figure out what to eat. I've been doing this, but still at the best after eating I usually get up to a 3.5 or 4 on the pain scale (0 Nothing - 10 Too painful to bear - seek doctor!). I'm excited about this spark team and hope to gain good information here.
Some things I'm going to try that I've found here is using baking soda (1 tsp to 1/2 cup water) when it gets bad. I'm going to try eating according to a website recommended by someone on this team. Here's how the email I received from the website begins:

Anyway, I'm excited to have a forum to explore ideas and get help for this very painful condition. It's such a tiring condition too (because it just doesn't go away)!!!!!
