Having a certified instructor guiding you would be an asset, because you will learn the poses in a way that would be beneficial to you (modified poses and use of props). Watch as many dvds you can, maybe Netflix have them or your library to learn what Yoga can offer to you in particular. Join us in the challenge.
Hello Simmy, I'm new to the team too. I have a friend who has Fibromyalgia, I hope yoga works for you. My advice would be to try to get to a class. It's really best to have teacher there at first to correct you. If you really can't afford to make it to a class try you tube or an app to find the style you like best. In my personal opinion I think it is best to find something that is to your ability, your timeframe, and that has an instructor that you like. Personally I like an instructor who is clear on how to do the poses, doesn't talk too much, and gives variations for easier or harder abilities. I use Yoga Studio app on my iPhone. I absolutely love it. It is $2.99 but sometimes you can get it for free from Appsgonefree. I hope your journey takes you to a pain free place :)

Hello Team! Friends call me Simmy. It's my first day. I've been seriously gearing up for this for the last couple months, along with my doctor's help, we have decided Yoga would be a great place for me to begin. Doc even gave me a Yoga DVD for beginners.
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a few months ago. After years of being told my pain was from my "extra weight" or "depression", I found a new doctor who immediately discovered I had Fibro. The last couple months we have tweeked meds and I got a couple shots in my shoulder and I honestly feel the best I have in at least TWO YEARS! So I am ready to start Yoga and start on this exciting journey to a new me!
