I really recommend working in a class or with a teacher for a little bit to work on proper alignment, breathing, etc. before trying to make a regular at-home practice (if that is your goal).... but that is just my perspective. Plenty of folks do DVD yoga exclusively and report awesome benefits. How are you planning to build a regular practice? Classes? DVD? Internet resources? Looking forward to getting to know you! By the way, I'm in Belgium.... so we aren't neighbors, but closer to each other than the Americans ;-)
Hey P.S. you might be interested in the group: Vegan Fitness and Nutrition... I'm a member, and they are way more active than the calling all vegetarians (and vegans) group (used to be a member). What is good for a Vegan is good for a Vegetarian :-)

Welcome. You have arrived at a place that will certainly meet the needs and desires your mentioned in your post. I have practiced yoga for over 6 years, but it is only recently that my practice has become regular. I practice at least 5 and often 6 days a week. You can use DVD's, work with a teacher to develop a personal practice or develop one of your own. Keep posting.
I've just joined Spark People today having migrated from Weight Watchers. I've lost 2 1/2 stone so far, but still lots to go. One of the reasons I've joined Spark people is that I want to be able to track more nutritional information to make sure I'm getting all my minerals, especially calcium. Women have to be careful about bone density & I want to keep my nice and strong. Also, I've just switched to being a vegetarian so I want to keep a closer eye on things & make sure I'm balancing my proteins properly.
Generally, my emphasis is changing from just losing weight to gaining health - and Spark People seems a wonderful tool to support that.
I'm really looking forward to finding out more about what Spark People offers and hooking up with fellow Sparkies in the UK.
Whenever I practice yoga it always rewards me but I've never sustained a regular practice - I'm hoping that joining this group may lift my yoga vibe. I also practice Reiki and meditation.
