There is a saying that is you can do a 21-day new routine, it will stick with you, if you check the Information Forum you'll find a 21-day Yoga Challenge, a 21-day Fitness Challenge, both from Yoga Journal. This month they have the 7-day Yoga Detox Challenge. You can check them out, the length varies,from 12 min to 45 min so they are doable if you stick with them.Also, it helps going to a real class with a certified instructor to learn the poses right and to feel part of a community with the same interest. My name is Lori. I'm a grad student in Oklahoma. I'm trying to lose 40 pounds by the time my boyfriend and I take engagement pictures (not engaged yet, but will be in a few months) because I have a strong opposition to paying for engagement pictures neither of us will want to look at. Once I lose weight, I want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Grad school really allowed things to get out of hand for me. I didn't have much time or energy to exercise. And fast food almost always seemed easier than cooking something at home. I can't live like that anymore. I just can't do it. I feel horrible almost all of the time. Clothes aren't really exciting for me anymore either, though I have to keep buying new clothes that fit.
I've always been drawn to yoga for the power, energy, and discipline it creates in the mind of the individual, as well as for it's quick benefits and results. I've bought several different yoga books and DVDs and haven't found one that I've consistently followed, though I really like several of them. I love how I feel after a yoga session, but I just don't stick with it. My hope is to start a daily yoga routine. Once I get that going and build up some strength and stamina, I would like to do power yoga.
