@Winnie: Thanks for pointing out the Arabic-learning forum, I'll definitely be checking it out. Inshallah, I'll be able to pick up at least a basic amount of Arabic before I leave so that I won't be completely confused and helpless upon arrival.

I know, eh? Somehow never saw this group until today.
No date yet. We're not actually technically engaged yet, but we're essentially engaged already. If that makes sense. It's just far easier than referring to him as my "partner" while living in the ME and then either explaining what that means or being lectured about how I shouldn't have a boyfriend. *grin*

My name is Carina, and I'm currently located in Toronto. (I'm moving from Canada to the UAE in August, though, something I keep meaning to write about in my SP blog and haven't gotten around to yet.)
I'm a convert, have been since August 2009, and I mainly interact with other Muslims through online forums. My fiance is Muslim (has always been), but most of my other friends, and all of my family, are not. I'm really looking forward to moving to a majority-Muslim country where I hopefully have more support in learning more about Islam and practicing more consistently than what I have been doing here. It's a struggle that I know I need to work harder on.
