Assalamu alaikum, Sister! I too am a revert (over 24 years now, Masha'Allah). I am so excited because I finished the last of my Shawaal days today and now I can recommit to proper diet and more exercise, Insha'Allah.
I don't know how active this board is, but IA we will be able to give each other some support.
Where are you in ME? My husband is originally from Egypt, my good friend lives in SA and my other good friend lives in Sharja UAE.
IA, I hope to hear from you. Allah hafiz, Pam

Assalaamu alaikum. I'm a revert to Islam (for about 20 years now) living in the Middle East. I've been Sparking for a while but only really seriously (I'm a slow learner!) for a few months. I've lost 5 kilos now! Ramadan, blessed as it is, is always a challenge for me in terms of schedule, especially sleeping. And somehow, I always spend too much time in the kitchen! I'm trying to manage that better this year, but I'd love to hear how others do it.

Yes sister, This is the best decision ever which will benefit you in this life and the hereafter. This life will pass no matter how hard it was but the hereafter is what we should be worried about; an eternal life of pleasures for all those who obeyed Allah. Alhamdulillah you have found the light. May Allah continue to guide you and strengthen your eemaan. Ameen

I'm Chris, I'm 59, divorced, have three adult daughters who have all married and gone their own way, and I was born into a lapsed Christian family. I have finally, after 4 years of reading about Islam, decided that Islam is for me. It was a huge decision to make, well, it felt huge to me, but once I decided that this is the path I wish to travel, suddenly I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that it is the right decision. Today, after my Asr prayers, I will travel out of town to meet with a sister who will spend time answering all my questions, explaining anything I am unclear about. I have to say that never have I had such a warm welcome!
I am nervous, I'm excited, and I was trying to work out what that feeling was similar to, earlier today. Do you remember when you were about to leave home for your first day in your first ever job? You couldn't wait to begin, but there was still that nagging worry that you wouldn't measure up. That is exactly how I feel. The difference is that I know deep within me that this is the best decision I have ever made in my entire life!

Asalamu aleikom! Im not new to SP, but I am a new Revert to the Islam community! Im happy to find other sisters on this website. With the Holiday season coming up (specially with my family who are religion neutral), the foods out there are very very tempting! \Plus, I never knew how hard it would be to give up pork, especially since I was never a big pork eater in the first place! Any help would be appreciated on how to go cold turkey (porky)! I would very much like some pointers! Have a wonderful day!
