I'm a relatively fit (albeit overweight) 62 and I love my mini-tramp. Got it used for $15, to see if I like it, and I do - may have to get a better one soon. I'll check out that link too. I don't have a lot of room where we live (with my son and his gf, in a granny flat at the back of their house) so I have to put it away when not in use; I'd love to be able to leave it out, I know I would use it more often. But maybe we can nudge each other on! And Camael100, I can relate to the bathroom thing!

I am interested too. thanks for the link. I will check it out. I actually broke my leg and ankle three years ago as well and I am not finding jumping any problem. I am also on the jump rope team!

The only problem I have on the trampoline is making sure I use the bathroom before I start! Side effects of two pregnancies!!

Hi Cathie515! Maybe if we start posting on this thread others will join us! Here is a page I found with some basic information about getting started and some beginner exercises.

http://www.reboundforlife.com.au/rebound
er-exercises.html

My mini trampoline won't arrive until the end of the week, so I can't start yet. However, once I get mine, I'd love for us to set some mutual goals and help keep each other on track!

I'm interested! I broke my ankle four years ago and find rebounding really comfortable. Don't get me wrong, the break healed fine and I was back to work as a nurse in less than four months). I am now retired and find running a bit hard on the joints, but rebounding isn't. Any help or information or anything else about rebounding would be great! emoticon

If anyone is still interested in making this team active again, please post on the team page. I am new to rebounding, but really want to have a forum with support and suggestions. I always find that having shared goals motivates me! I am surprised there are not more teams about using mini trampolines and also sad to find this one basically inactive. Let's get it going again! Who is with me??!!

I just got a mini trampoline and would like to start something of a routine...Any suggestions? I'm 61, in relatively good shape, apart from being overweight, but don't particularly want a really vigorous routine. emoticon (There is apparently no emoticon of a rebounder!)

Thank you. The holidays are treating me real well. I have family and guests coming for the next two weekends and will be following the last guests (son and family) home to spend the holiday with the rest of our family. I just hope to bounce everyday.

I hope you are recovered and back to jogging soon. And wish you a happy holiday as well.

Hi Pam,
Great to have you with us. I think you must be right about the recovery burn. I know there for a couple of weeks it felt like my heart would just jump out of my chest just from walking across the room. Before surgery I was jogging 20 minutes with no problem so it felt really strange to be having such a tough time again. So maybe because my heart rate was up so much of the time I got my little "miracle". Oh well for Christmas, lol, but every pound counts.

I was very stiff also when I began rebounding but a friend told me just to start out slow maybe a couple minutes at a time everytime I walked past the trampoline. I did that for a few days and amazingly by the second week I was managing 20-35 minute workouts twice a day.

I'm not sure what I can do now. I've been practicing a very small walking bounce on it for a couple of days now just to get used to moving good again but I am sure expecting to get that leg and butt burn you mentioned. I remember that so well, lol.

Take care and I hope the holidays are treating you well,

Tonya

Nice to meet you Paleorchid. I joined while you were down. I think our bodies burn more calories when their repairing themselves. Could be the reason. I hope you are up soon.

My back is much better. My upper back was very stiff when I first started bouncing. I was even starting to get sucked into the hype that I needed a $300.00 rebounder and that I was injuring myself. But I'm all better now. After jumping for a couple of weeks, my back is fine and only my legs and butt is sore. LOL Even on this cheap mini trampoline!

My thanksgiving was a bit weird. I watched my calories very well the week before so that I would be able to indulge thinking that I would still gain some cause I certainly did indulge- turkey and dressing- potato salad-baked beans-sweet potato pie- chocolate cream pie- and banana pudding- I pretty much eat that kind of stuff All day and some of the next and somehow I did not gain which I felt lucky enough for. However when I went back to my normal eating right routine I lost a pound a day until I lost a total of 4.8 pounds in the week after Thanksgiving.

How weird is that ? I have been getting very little exercise because of my recovery from surgery so it just seems funny that I could lose all of that and during a holiday when I basically just had every naughty thing I wanted. Sheesh- I wish Christmas would deliver the same results, lol. I seem to be stuck again.

I haven't been brave enough to step on the scales yet. I indulged in wine and pie so I'm sure I'll have a gain to report.

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! I got through the day without eating too much and feel real good about it. I did perhaps drink a couple of glasses too much of wine, but no pecan pie :)

I'm up for it! I also started a personal mini-challenge yesterday. I'm going to see how many days I can go without eating out. I haven't been planning my meals in advance so I find myself going for convenience foods instead of healthy.

Well it seems like Thanksgiving is right on us and very little time for a challenge but I would like to give you all a mini challenge. Just one thing til thankgiving is over- I challenge everyone to eat healthy foods and within calorie limits everyday til Thanksgiving so that indulging that day feels a little better.

Anyone up for it ?

I'm back home from the hospital and feeling yucky but slowly but surely recovering. Not allowed any exercise other than short walks but at least I have that.

Yep, I got my bike. It needs a little repair work before I'll be able to use it. Something is wrong with the gears. Hubby says he can fix it...he just hasn't gotten around to it yet. You know how that goes! I can't wait till I can use it. It's very comfortable and something I can see myself doing while watching t.v.

I hope your surgery goes well tomorrow. You better have a speedy recovery...we need your enthusiasm around here! Take care.

Were you able to get your bike? I love those things.

I go in for surgery in the morning. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery so I can get back on track soon.

Sorry to hear you're having a hysterectomy. I hope it won't keep you down for too long.

On my way home for lunch the thrift store had 2 recumbent bikes sitting outside for sale. They looked pretty nice from the street. I'm sending my husband to check them out. I'm hoping he'll be able to get them. I think hubby would actually use a bike if we had one.

Hi Leesa - What's the name of the 'workout' and where did you get it and how much did it cost? I got my mini-tramp from WalMart and it didn't come with a video, so basically I've been jogging on the thing.

Great going on the workout, Leesa. It really can be tough to begin with but will become more fun if you keep at it. I have had mine for a few months now and love it so much. Just listen to your body and careful not to overdo it.

Hi Ladies,
I finally got my rebounder yesterday, and I love it so far. I also got several workouts with it and I did the easiest today even though it was not that easy for me. I can't wait to try other workouts.
Have a great evening.

Ditto on the elliptical. When I first got mine I could only manage 2 or 3 minutes at a time. I've made it a goal to gradually work my time up. I can now stay on it for almost 10 minutes. Someone from another team said they were eventually able to work their way up to 60 minutes. I can't imagine being able to stay on it that long...most days 5 minutes feels like an eternity!

Hi everyone, hope things are going great wherever you are. I cannot remember if I mentioned it or not but I joined the ymca yesterday for the family. I've been needing to spend more quality time with my children and what better way to do it then have fun and getting fit too. One thing I can say is I had no idea how fast a Elliptical machine would kick my butt...I could not even manage 5 minutes on the thing.

Welcome back Tonya. I know you've been back for a few days but I haven't had a chance to chat. I hope the move went smoothly. I have one rose bush in my yard. My husband's grandmother planted it years ago before we bought her house. I don't do anything to it and it still comes up every year and looks beautiful. It's kind of surprising because when I try to take care of plants they always seem to die on me!

I walked so much today that my heels were actually bleeding. I did not realize until I took my shoes off though. I just felt the need to break in my new pair of shoes but I think they broke me in, honestly. Other than that I have not done much other than carrying my children to see their grandma for a few hours. It felt strange going over there after being away for so long. (Over 9 years) The kids enjoyed themselves though so I was happy with that. Might let them spend the weekend over there next week if they finish their chores this week.

I have a sister that likes to grow roses. I tried once but I cannot even get cacti to grow, lol. Oh well maybe someday.

Oh LOOK! We DO have a 'daily chatter' thread! Now if everyone could use THIS instead of the one we're suppose to be keeping track of stuff on. Chheeesh. It's getting hard to find my last post.

So, I didn't work out today. I "Didn't feel like it".
I DID cut back the 12 rose bushes I've got though. I'm going to be digging them up the EOM so my little sister (bear14gsb) can take them to my OTHER sister (mbeggs1) when she goes for a visit next month. Oh. so much WORK! LOL I've got stab wounds from the rose pricks, making it hard to TYPE! I just haven't had time since I started working at the commissary to devote to my yard, much less roses. And if you know anything about roses, they need tending.
So, what's new with you guys?

I know this team is for rebounding but I just found a virtual walk/run website that I'm really excited about. After you log your miles the site tells you where your at and shows you some pics of the area. You can even pick a partner and have a virtual race with them. I just joined today. I'm starting in Virginia and planning to walk to California. I just thought this sounded like a fun way to stay motivated and get cardio. If anyone is interested in joining here is the site:

That sounds like a wonderful Holiday. I love the snow but never get to see it down here. Have a great time!

I just wanted to share my excitement with you all. This afternoon I booked airline tickets to go see my sister in Colorado over Thanksgiving. It's been a year and a half since I last saw her, over 3 years since I went to CO to visit, and 7 years since we were able to spend Thanksgiving together. I'm so excited to be able to go. I've never been to Colorado when it was snowy so I'm hoping to get some awesome pictures...and who knows, maybe I'll learn to ski!

Dont get yourself down too much about it. Like you said it is a new week. I gained 4 pounds last week too but it is water weight. I was 309 yesterday and 308 this morning so I am hoping it is slowly starting to come back off. On a good note my pants keep getting looser even though the weight is lingering.

It's been awhile since I've posted anything here. We went camping last weekend. We had a good time but I ate way too much. I'm really dissapointed in myself. At my weigh in on Monday, I had gained 4 pounds. I still haven't recorded my weight because I don't want to see the change on my ticker. I think some of it may actually be muscle because I've been working out on the elliptical and rebounder regularly. And they both seem to kick my butt! Unfortunately, most of the weight gain is from eating like a pig. I didn't eat very well all week but I really ate like crap over the weekend. I think I ate a bag of chips and a package of cookies all by myself. Oh well, it's a new day and a new week...I will do better!
