Sasha, go see another doctor. Proper treatment will help you lose the weight - in addition to the lifestyle changes you're making from here, of course. Dr. David Ehrmann at the Center for PCOS at University of Chicago Hospital will work with local doctors to educate them on treating PCOS patients.
I'd like to go slap your doctor in GR. Would he/she refuse treatment until you lose weight if you had cancer? Heart disease? Diabetes? If you don't get treatment for PCOS, you're at risk for all of those. It's not just a piddly fertility issue.
OK, off my soapbox, sorry! Anyway, welcome aboard!
I'm Adrienne and I'm in Benton Harbor, Michigan. SW Lower corner.
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and went thru fertility treatments only to have them end in miscarriage. I have a healthy and happy 4 1/2 yr old daughter that was conceived with no problems. Just can't get preg again.
I've started taking Metformin, 1500 mg a day. I'm hoping to loose more wieght and have another child.
