WOW! Its been a LONG time since I wrote on this. Well I guess another update! On April 23rd I had a beautiful little girl! she was 8 lbs 12 oz! A month and a half after starting metformin I became pregnant! Woot woot! I am hoping to be back on metformin soon, but I will be on BC! Not ready for another baby just yet lol Now I hoping to start on a new journey of losing weight! I do not want to get pregnant again at the weight I was. Thankfully I am already back down to the weight I was before but I still need to lose about 40lbs before I can even think about having another baby!

Update- I have been on 1500 mg of metformin for about a month and I am pretty sure I am ovulating. I have all the signs or symptoms of ovulating so I guess we will see what happens. I also went off BC about a month ago. I do not have any expectations I am just happy to see that it looks like metformin is making a deference emoticon

Not all of us with PCOS who are infertile are upset with being infertile, I'm happy that I can't have children because I'm Childfree by choice and natures will (plus thanks to my gyn).

yes many who have PCOS wish to be a parent for the first time or have another to add to the family - but the truth is there are those out there who have PCOS who have no wish to be a parent to a human child thus for us its not part of our PCOS struggles thus not something many of us talk about because its a non issue.

Hang in there! I'm still waiting for an official diagnosis, but I think I've had PCOS symptoms since I was a teen, which have gotten worse throughout the years. I always got pregnant very easily until baby number 3 which needed clomid. Baby 4 came 16 months later without clomid.

Please stay positive - I am one of those that was told that I may not be able to get pregnant because of PCOS. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for over a year and a half. We then decided to not to worry about it anymore, if it was meant to be it would happen. So, I decided to concentrate on myself and try to lose the weight and get healthy. Well, after only 2 months of concentrating on working out and watching what I ate I lost 10 pounds and low and behold I got pregnant. I now have a very happy 7 month old baby boy.

We would love to have another child in the near future (as I will be 35 in January). So, I've really started concentrating on taking care of myself and trying to lose the weight again. I want to be at a much healthier weight than I was when I got pregnant. So, hopefully when we are ready it will be easier and we won't have to wait very long.

Take one day at a time and concentrate on a happier and healthier you!

To reiterate what others have said, every woman is different. Some women, even without PCOS have trouble and some women with PCOS get pregnant very easily. There is no one size fits all.

Despite what your doctor said, you are still really young! I turn 32 next month and when DH and I interviewed reproductive endocrinologists last summer all we heard from all the nurses and doctors at two practices was how young I am. Of course your chances diminish as you age, and especially once you are over 35, but as long as you are healthy there are always options.

Also, it's not an all or nothing game. There is not a finite amount of babies to be had and some get and some do not. The time will come, one way or another, for all of us that want it.

You do not say how old you are, but infertility (even secondary infertility - the inability to get pregnant after a successful pregnancy) is defined as not getting pregnant after 1 year of trying under 35 or 6 months of trying over 35. If you are not even trying I would not stress too much about it. Make sure you take care of yourself, and keep your PCOS under control so that when you DO start trying, it will hopefully be easier! Plenty of women with PCOS get pregnant and have several pregnancies. Even if you encounter problems, there are mild treatments like clomid that can help. I hear wonderful things about holistic treatment like acupuncture, too.

Unfortunately, I am not one of the lucky ones but DH and I have many other issues than PCOS that we are facing in our struggle.

I know that if it was meant to be it will be. and I know I shouldn't stress cause tht doesn't help but man I don't want to one of those women who never have anymore. I need to stop though because we aren't even like really trying yet. We are just not not trying lol. But in about 3 months if nothing has happened I will prolly talk to my dr again. I need to just pray and ask God for peace and contentment I guess. Thank you all for the encouraging words. It really helps :D

Everyone is different, so don't be scared. Most women with PCOS can still have children. Remember most people share bad news before good news, funny how that works.

I don't have any children of my own yet, but I have not given up...I still have a few years left to try. I believe if it's meant to happen for me it will!

I have two beautiful children and both were conceived within three months of going off the pill... While I was 25+ pounds overweight, too. Don't be defeatist! Everyone is different.

Please don't get discouraged! Keep in mind that all members don't post about their experiences. Like me, though I've had PCOS since I was a teen, I am VERY fertile and get pregnant easily, even with cysts present. Everyone is different. And don't forget stress can also delay your dream! I believe everything happens for a reason, and when it is supposed to happen. Have faith and enjoy your journey! emoticon

I have for the past couple of weeks been obessed with reading these PCOS message boards but honestly it has made me terrified! So many of you either can't get pregnant, or have had miscarriages, or you are having to spent thousands of dollars and not getting anywhere. I feel so bad for all of you but now I feel like I should just give up my dreams of having children with my husband. I have a 6 year old daughter from a previous relationship and she is a BLESSING beyond belief but I don't want her to be an only child. I know that only God knows if I will get pregnant but man I feel very very discouraged at this point emoticon
