My name is Robin (that felt like a 12-step-program moment,lol), I heard about this on another site I was visiting and it sounded like something I wanted to participate in. I'm just getting started so bear with me as I learn the ropes, lol. In the interest of not typing for the next three hours, I'll just add the intro I posted on my page to get started. I'll be downloading the apps for my iPad so I can take SparkPeople with me for easier access to you all's posts etc. Right now, I'm currently working overtime and have little me time, but I do have a goal of being here at least once each day to participate. :-)
I've struggled with my weight since having my son 20 years ago. Not because I didn't eat right but because I DID but never got RESULTS. I had been to doctor after doctor and weight loss clinic after weight loss clinic. To make a long story short, when I began to fail at my weight loss each entity basically said, "You MUST be cheating." Uh, no. Even my doctors said "you're cheating. " I was the girl who was constantly on a diet, saying no to goodies at work, exercising at my gym six days a week, drinking a gallon of water a day, dumping tons of money into weight loss programs, and watching skinnier people eat more and exercise less. Can I just tell you... I wanted to scream! Well now, Thank God, I finally got a doctor to actually listen to me. All the PROPER tests later and I find out I not only have a form of hypothyroidism but PCOS to boot. Double whammy. I am now on medication for both and am hoping this will help me metabolize like a normal human being and lose some weight. I've been told it will still be hard so I'm here to start that journey and hopefully meet others with the same challenges.
