The migraine, unfortunately, could be caused by withdrawal from the caffeine found in certain sodas. If this is the case, it will pass.
As much as it may sound preachy, losing 5lb in three days isn't healthy and noone should be aiming for that level of loss. From what you mention in your post, you're still losing just not as fast as your friend - remember that studies have shown that slower weight loss is more likely to lead to maintenance of that weight loss.
Only you can decide if a weight loss regime is working for you but I would urge you not to fall for the numerous fad diets out there. A healthy, balanced, calorie-controlled diet is really the way to go.
