Hey there and welcome! You're in the right place. While it all may seem a bit confusing the more you poke around the more you find. I started because of the recipe database about a year ago and now I'm using it for nurtition and excercise tracking. There are also some great groups out there for PCOS and other purposes (30somethings, military etc.). I am a grad student as well. I haven't been at my current school but my prior grad school had a great gym with indoor track, excercise classes etc. Maybe your school has one too? Sounds like you have a great history with excercise, where as I've been sporatic at best but it's a very important part of keeping your weight and PCOS in check. Good luck to you and feel free to email me any time. Chrystal
Hi there. This is the first time I'm taking a minute to join a group and post something- so here goes.
I am 33 and I just was diagnosed on Friday (1/28/11). I have read a lot and I don't really know where to start. I've had suspicions about having PCOS back in Dec (when I initially joined SP) but I guess I needed to wait until I heard for sure.
Now after reading everything, my head is spinning a bit from so much information out there and I'm not really sure where to start!
About me: Originally from Ny and I was a dependable gym rat. I was at the gym at least 4 times a week and had lost about 20 lbs. Now that I have moved to PA, with no gym, I took up running (2009) but stopped mid summer ('10) and have done nothing since. I don't really know many ppl in my area, my parents are deceased (both cancer) and I have no family in the states. I'm a FT grad student this semester and I am currently unemployed. I'd love to find myself and get on track to a life that I'd like to have.
I'm not sure if this is the place for me, but I recognize that reaching out is something that I need to do even if I am terribly shy about opening up to ppl who don't know me.
Additionally, I haven't a CLUE as to how this site works I find it super confusing!! So if you've read this far...please show me the way! lol.
I welcome friendships, a good ear, good conversation and more information about PCOS that makes sense.
