I took chromium and cinnamon. those worked much better for me than the met and they are not very expensive. I felt much better on them than the met and they had no side effects.

I've taken birth control in the past not a fan of it one bit. But I'll have to talk to my doctor if there is anything else I can take, but for now I'm going to give Metformin a try on its own and see if anything happens. I'm hoping it does. But only time will tell! Also thank you so much for everything ^_^ your bits of wisdom have gotten me thinking more about this PCOS and I'm happy and actually looking forward to battling PCOS with a more informative perspective of things.

I'm glad to hear it. Just remember to give your body time to adjust to it, that may take a few months so don't get frustrated. Also, it took the combo of metformin and spironolactone to regulate my periods so if metformin alone doesn't work talk to your doctor about birth control options or spironolactone (which I take because I can't take birth control and I think it is an ingredient in most birth controls). Good luck!

Thank you for your input! It means a lot, I think I'll start taking it, record how my body feels while on it and hopefully see an improvement and maybe even get my cycle working properly again!

emoticon I have been taking metformin for about 3 years now and it's helped me. I don't think it has thinned out my hair, but it has helped me to lose weight, which I couldn't do no matter how hard I tried before I took metformin. I had a few side effects in the beginning, nausea, diarrhea, headache, but they all went away after the first month. Now I only get nausea if I don't eat enough when I take it. My mom also takes it (for diabetes control) and she said the same thing. So don't count it out just yet.
