I knew I had ovarian cysts at a fairly young age but I didn't know about PCOS until I got my blood sugar checked recently. It was in the pre-diabetes range and the nurse asked me if I had regular periods. I haven't in many many years and she told me about PCOS. I have about 75% of the symptoms I've read about, I just had no idea it was PCOS.
The most troubling to me of the side effects is the hair growth on my face. I shave it off and it's horribly embarrassing for me.
I really need to see a doctor about PCOS because I have now read about all the complications from it and the risk of cancer. I'm putting it off right now both because I'm going on a trip out of state in a week and because, well, I have no insurance and am scared how much even the local sliding-scale fee clinic may charge. Wish me luck, and it's great to meet all of you.
150 minutes exercise per week.
Keeping an eye on my carbs, and making sure I eat a normal amount of them.
