Good luck! I have found with taking the higer doses of metformin (i'm taking 1000mg working up to 1500mg) that it isn't as easy to GAIN weight but it isn't any easier to lose . I still have to work hard to lose it but once it's gone it doesn't come all back with one slip up from the diet. Before metformin one off plan dinner and I gained 5 pounds... that took me another 2-3 weeks to take back off. Now I can eat off plan for a meal and the worse that will happen is I will stay the same weight. Of course that doesn't get you anywhere either but atleast I'm not always playing catch up. Now that the holidays are here it will be easier for me to enjoy some treats without worrying about the 10 - 15 pounds I will be gaining back.
Just thought I'd introduce myself: I'm a stay-at-home mom to 3 kids ~ ages 1,3,and 13 so it's pretty crazy around here.
I was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago. I was prescribed Metformin, but was already pregnant so I never took it. During the last 3 years I have had 2 children, and lost and regained 50-60 pounds each time.
I have now found a new family doctor who started me on Metformin 500mg once a day with dinner. She also prescribed me bc pills today (can't remember the name, but it is not yaz or yasmin- she didnt want to use those) so we'll see how it goes. We have decided that three kids are enough ;) Plus I have really horrible periods.
I really need to get back on track, seeing as how I've gained 10lb.s in a month and a half, 6 of those since starting metformin. I am now commiting to keeping track of all my food, and I hope to get Wii Fit Plus for Christmas since it's really, really cold out now.
