for what it is worth..my adverse reactions to Met went away after only a few weeks, I'm only taking 500 mg once in the morning. Next month my blood levels will be checked again and perhaps it will be increased. Good luck to you..hope they go away soooon!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I'm so excited to be here and pumped to get started.

And yes, one of my side effects is diarrhea unfortunately. Alot of nausea as well. I'm on twice a day. It is getting slowly better and I hope it will subside completely over time. In the meantime i cant complain much because those lovely side effects are actually helping in the weight loss journey a bit I guess. We'll see!

Hi and Welcome Adriane! I was diagnosed back in September of last year. I'm still trying to adjust in some ways. The metformin will really help you-it has helped me tons! Is one of the side affect you are having diarrea? I was having problems at first too because my doctor had me up to taking it three times a day and it was making me sick. She now has me down at one time a day. This is a great team and site to stay motivated. Everyone is very helpful and on the same journey as you. Good luck with your goals!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Adriane and I'm 23 years old. I live in Montana with my husband (and childhood sweetheart!). I was just diagnosed this week with PCOS and have started a metformin treatment plan.

I came to discover my PCOS due to research into other medical problems I am dealing with. While plugging in my list of bizaar symptoms online, PCOS kept coming up like a big red flashing light, so I got it checked and sure enough. Unfortunatly, PCOS is not the culprit causing my other medical problems. I have an un-diagnosed muscular disorder that has baffled every doctor I have seen since it began. It makes it very hard (read: impossible) to exercise, so as you can imagine, losing weight is particularly difficult for me.

Although the metformin seems to be helping already (minus the aweful side effects), I know there is still a really long hard journey ahead of me, and I hope that this community will help me stay motivated and dedicated to my goals.

I hope at this time to lose about 48 lbs by winter, and another 40 after that. Ultimately I would like to get back down to 160lbs. Although that is not considered my healthy weight according to BMI indexes, that is the weight at which I always felt most healthy and happy. It is my goal to get back not only to the healthy, but even more so to the happy!

Cant wait to get started and I hope I can be a good help and support to all the rest of you as well!

Thanks and God Bless!
Adriane
