Hello and welcome, OU! I'm nearly 28 and diagnosed at age 9, sounds like we're in similar boats- no complications yet and need to keep it that way! I think SP is pretty awesome, there's more information here than I ever thought one (free) website could have, and its a pretty flexible program so it works with/around most anything else you've got going on. Good luck with your new Minimed pump, I've only ever used Minimed and while I think the pump is great, I'm not so fond of their support services. I used to actually have to call them and request a bill otherwise they'd take 8 months to bill me. They've gotten better though in the last year or so, maybe I'm just holding a grudge... Anyway, welcome to the team and to SP!
Introduce myself, eh? Let's see... I am a type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed with diabetes just before I turned 11 and I am now 28. I've been a pump user since '96 and in that time I've had two Disetronic, one Cozmo, and a Minimed I just switched to since Cozmo is going away. I'm the proud father of two wonderful little boys and I want to be around for them for a long time to come. I don't have any complications yet and I want to keep it that way. I'm currently about 10 pounds overweight, but I'm working with a personal trainer to lose that weight and get in shape. It was actually my trainer that recommended that I join SP. Well, I guess that's me in one paragraph or less.
